    IIRC, the only canon printed books at the moment are the Countdown comics, and I think the new Discovery novels (As they are direct tie-ins), until they are contradicted on screen.

    With this book being from 2016, I highly doubt it is Canon, and its appearance on Memory Alpha does not mean it's Canon either, nearly every Star Trek publication is listed on there. More than likely, it's part of the Pocketbooks Extended Timeline.

    No books are canon, unless referenced on screen, that is how it is judged I believe. There have been other Star Trek books that are tie-ins, though I have no idea if any are considered to be true canon. But since I can't read novels, I have no clue what is in most of them!
