So with the Personal Endeavor system now in game there is a fairly massive grind ahead for anyone wanting to max out those fancy perk points and different buffs they offer. Obviously it's gonna be a long-term goal for most players but to move along at a decent pace and not get left behind many people will be wanting to complete the daily task as fast and efficiently as possible. After all the grind will soon become tedious if you have to devote hours every single day for years to hunting down ways to complete tasks.
So, with this in mind I'm hoping to use a bit of community based action here and compile a guide of sorts for all the different Personal Endeavor tasks people are getting and the best way people have found to complete them.
I'll try to update this initial post as people add their experiences so that we should end up with a pretty large coverage of all the tasks popping up.
So please do add your experiences and we'll see how much info we can get down in writing.
For simplicity's sake i'll not list every single example of things like "do X damage", or "kill X number of enemies" etc. as they are all very similar and just amount to swapping a weapon over, or a different number to kill. I'll only cover specific tasks if there is a definite easiest/fastest way to complete it.
Normal Tasks
Heal X Hull in space - easiest way I've found was in the mission Ragnarok because the sphere builder space has a constant hazard that eats your hull away. Don't even have to engage anyone, just sit and pop heals until done then leave.
Another easy method is any mission that has orbital defence satellites you must protect or repair such as Peril over Pahvo or some of the Mycelial patrols. The enemies tend to attack these satellites feverishly but they cannot be destroyed so they offer a chance for easy hull healing.
Heal Shields in space - The Counter Command Biomolecular Shield rep clicky is your friend here, also shield repair drones. Go to Japorii system in the Beta Quadrant and park up to get shot at with either/both of those deployed. Should be completed even at elite level in seconds.
Heal shield damage (Ground) - pretty easy if you go to the Voth BZ with two engineer boffs. Have them fully equipped with shield heal domes, set them to passive and then sit somewhere getting shot at telling them to drop the domes as required.
Heal body/hull(?) damage (Ground) - super easy to do this in any zone with a big drop. ESD from the mezzanine, New Romulus off the big high bridge etc. The fall damage probably won't kill you but will be plenty to get the heals done in no time. Also i found those worm things on Nimbus are pretty easy to use for this, just set up your Boffs to passive and control when they pop Medical Gens, then stand in the middle of a bunch of worms for 5 mins or so. Not much danger of death, but enough damage to get the job done.
Harvest Crafting material (Space) - Japori patrol mission map has 3 materials floating around, you can ignore the combat completely here.Just warp in/out twice to complete even elite level tasks in seconds.
Fluid Dynamics in the Borg arc also has 2 nodes right near the warp in point, just hop in/out to reset the map.
Harvest Crafting material (Ground) - again any fast mission map should be simple enough to find materials on. Spectres is pretty good, as is Stranded in Space, and Sphere of Influence has a node right where you start (just harvest, leave, and restart until done!). Bonus event tip - the scrap piles in First Contact event maps count, the snow/syrup piles in Winter Wonderland may also count as well assuming the mechanics are the same (unconfirmed).
Do INSERT ENERGY TYPE damage (Ground) - pretty simple just by swapping a weapon out for a TFO or a run in a BZ. (can be at any difficulty, just varying numbers of dmg required)
Do INSERT ENERGY TYPE damage (Space) - again simple just by swapping a single weapon most times and running an easy TFO. (can be at any difficulty, just varying numbers of dmg required)
Defeat X Voth (Ground)(Battlezone) - Easily done in the Voth BZ in about 5 mins
Defeat X Voth ships - Voth Contested Zone in the Solanae Sphere, easy to find ships here.
Defeat 10 Gorn on Nimbus - Easy to do, just go to the Gorn Canyon.
Advanced Tasks
Defeat Vaadwaur (Ground) - Kobali Prime is your friend here, the first bridge assault mission is good, or just go nuts in the trenches.
Win 1000 GPL at Dabo - tricky as the game is random, but Quarks, Drozana, the bar on Nimbus III or any Ferengi ship bridge has a Dabo table.
Earn 1000 Salvage Points - just salvage a load of random loot from missions, or just buy a load of cheap junk off the exchange to salvage. Better gear obviously gives more points; is there a best points per gear option?
Defeat X Voth (Ground) - easiest done in the ground BZ, sometimes can combine with the kill Voth BZ enemies tasks too if you're lucky.
Destroy destructible torpedos - Thanks to Novalance the best way is probably a Romulan patrol mission as the Romulan T'varo, DD's and Mogai warbirds shoot hyper-plasma torps at you.
The anti-ship missiles in Operation Riposte also count and there is a dedicated section of the mission for these making it ideal for passing the task.
Complete a Borg TFO (Not a RA) - pretty simple.
Defeat X Captain or higher rank enemies (Ground) - Nukara TFOs have Tholian Captains. KDF players can do the Gates of Grethor mission that spawns captains. Voth BZ worth a look too for the larger Voth enemies (V-rex). For a seasonal option the bigger snowmen in Q's WW count as captains. Nimbus III has various captains that spawn as special enemies (Nausican captain, Giant Scorpion etc.).
The Gamma arc mission Home has multiple Hur'q Vekcrid Overseers in the ground fight before you help Bashir on board the flagship; these count as captain rank. Don't interact with Bashir and you can leave and drop right back in when this endeavour comes round again. (Credit to Taku for this trick.)
Defeat X Herald ships - tbh any missions where you fight Heralds usually has tonnes of stuff to shoot, and even Gateway to Grethor TFO is literally swarming with ships.(THIS TYPE OF TASK MAY BE SHIP CLASS/SIZE DEPENDENT FOR VARIOUS DIFFICULTIES!)
Defeat Hur'q frigates - the little swarmers count so any space engagement with them will count. The Swarm TFO will complete this in mere seconds I suspect!
Defeat Hur'q Attendants (Ground) - any of the Hur'q story missions as they are literally swarming with these enemies. Home is best as it is just constant swarms of enemies, easily over 200 in the ship boarding part alone.
Elite Tasks
Do Physical damage (Ground) - a bit tricky as the melee system is pretty shoddy, but Defera Borg BZ or Nukara are pretty safe bets as there are plenty of easy enemies. Physical damage is also done by some science kit modules and a small number of firearms such as the Zephram Shotgun. Update: The Klingon Civil War mission "Partisans" has a combat arena part with unlimited Dewan arthropods, Targs, and Mugatos; this is ideal for doing any melee combat tasks (including the KDF recruit melee kill tasks for their transponder rewards). The melee part is near the start and there's little danger of death if your boffs are geared with heals.
Defeat 60 Tholians (Ground) - 5-10 mins in Nukara Prime will do this, REMEMBER TO BRING AN EV SUIT!
Defeat 60 Tzenkethi (Ground) - Of Signs And Portents mission has quite a lot of Tzenkethi (thanks to T'hor for pointing this one out).
Defeat 60 Borg (Ground) - Defera Invasion zone, they respawn pretty fast and are not very dangerous these days.
Defeat 60 Undine (Ground) - annoying to complete this one, the later Borg arc story missions has a fair few Undine. The Undine ground TFO is good too but elite runs can end up a mess so only run advanced if this bothers you.
Defeat 60 Terran Empire (Ground) - The Pahvo ground TFO is the best for this and the only place that Terran enemies are guaranteed to appear in large numbers.
Defeat X Terran Empire ships (sometimes specifies Badlands BZ) - pretty simple, a trip to the Badlands BZ will complete this in either form it appears in.
Defeat Dewan Arthropods (Ground) - giant Scorpions on Nimbus count as Dewan and are the most numerous on this planet, right outside Paradise City. Instance swap to get a quieter map as some players camp out to do this endeavour. Mission "Partisans" also has unlimited arthropods inthe combat arena phase.
Defeat Dreadnought ships (Space) - this is fairly easy at low difficulties but at elite calls for 18 of them and most places don't have more than a couple. Luckily, Dranuur Gauntlet TFO has unlimited Dreadnought at the end phase up until the timer runs out. Or HSE could be an option if you feel up to it. Any Borg TFO with transwarp gateways will count said objects as a dreadnought sized enemy. Donatra's assimilated warbird in Khitomer Space counts as a dreadnought.
Additional Info:
1). If you're in a battlezone or story mission, your bridge officer/hanger pet damage output will count towards your own.
2). Some tasks call for Captain level ships to be defeated, although not obvious these are the bigger "Dreadnought" class of vessels (Tactical Cube, Unimatrix ships, Voth Citadel, Tethys Bio-Dreadnought etc).
3). Physical damage for ground tasks can come from several sources, some not immediately obvious: melee attacks, several science kit modules, Zefram Cochrane shotgun, Replica Tommy Gun.
4). Healing body damage on ground can actually be completed in a non-combat area like ESD just by falling off the high mezzanine walkway to take fall damage. The high bridge on New Romulus will also work.
You can also do this by standing in an acid pool on Nukara as long as you have a medical generator spawned and are not getting shot at (Engineers only!)
5). At least one task calls for defeating Herald ships, but the bigger Vonph ships do not count for some reason as they are classed as Iconian (yeah we know...). Baltim Raiders count, as do the Quas cruisers.THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE FIXED NOW - Cryptic is not well known for proper fixes!
6). For those struggling with specific damage type tasks you can actually complete these with use of Feedback Pulse or Nanoprobe Feedback for ground. These two abilities/traits will reflect back the type of damage shot at you and therefore you can select an enemy to fight who will in turn cause reflected damage to match that needed by the endeavor task. Credit to Strathkin for pointing this one out.
7). For harvesting of ground materials the First Contact Day event with building rockets counts as you are searching for the parts needed.
Specific Enemies - best locations to find them.
Borg (Ground) - Defera Ground Invasion Zone, Alpha Quadrant, Defera Sector (NW of DS9) Don't even need to run the misions, just head out and hunt them down. Respawn rates are nice and fast.
Borg (Space) - Any combination of the Borg space TFO's should suffice as there are a lot of enemies. Red Alerts will be ideal when they crop up as weekend events.
Gorn (Ground) - The Canyon area on Nimbus III is the obvious choice, always open and respawns fairly quick.
Dewan Arthropods (scorpions) - These are the big scorpions found on Nimbus III. If you need to kill a lot move to a quiet instance as a lot of players camp out in the desert to farm kills on busy instances. Boff kills also count, so it is a fast one with a full away team.
Heralds (Ground) - Blood of Ancients in the Iconian War arc is a fairly ground heavy combat mission. Lots of bad guys to kill.
Heralds (Space) - Herald Sphere TFO has literally hundreds of them to shoot. Just play on normal unless you want to have a bigger challenge, the random TFO mechanic should auto-flll it with other players if you select it manually.
Tzenkethi (Ground) - Of Signs And Portents in the New Frontiers arc has a substantial number after the space section.
Tzenkethi (Space) - Gon'cra Space Battlezone is the best option. Ignore the objectives as it is often bugged/impossible but there are plenty of ships to blow up.
Vaadwaur (Ground) - Kobali Prime Battlezone is open all hours. Team up with others or just go wild in the trenches.
Vaadwaur (Space) - To be honest any of the numerous Delta Quadrant patrol missions, especially those in the southern areas of the quadrant map, tend to have many waves of Vaadwaur ships to deal with.
Tholians (Ground) - Nukara Prime ground zone. Remember your EV suit. Respawn rate is good and high.
Tholians (Space) - Azure Nebula Rescue TFO has a fairly high number of Tholian ships. Stormbound in the Future Proof mission arc is also full of Tholian ships. Tholian Red Alert weekend events are an obvious though rarer choice.
Voth (Ground) - Obviously the Voth Ground Battlezone is best here.
Voth (Space) - Storming the Spire TFO has a good number, or the Voth Invasion Zone in the Solanae sphere (especially during the "Voth Incursion" pop-up mission.
Undine (Ground) - Undine Infiltration TFO is probably best though don't play on elite as it often bugs out and can be insta-failed.
Undine (Space) - The Undine Space Battlezone in the Solanae sphere is the best place for this. Secondary locations would be the TFO's Undine Assault and Vicious Circle.
Terran Empire (Ground) - The ground TFO, Pahvo Dissension is ideal, there's hundreds of them to shoot and it is not terribly difficult. Alternative would be the Assault on Terrok Nor TFO, though it is less popular.
Terran Empire (Space) - The Badlands Battlezone is the clear choice here, a better option will be Mirror Invasion when that even is active, or even Peril over Pahvo (though here you have a 50% chance of Klingons instead of Terrans).
Hur'q (Space) - Either the Swarm TFO or the 3 different Gamma Quadrant Battlezone missions are good here. In fact any story mission with Hur'q ships is good as they literally swarm you with hundreds of ships. Home is a good one, it has a lot of space combat as the start.
Hur'q (Ground) - Home in the Gamma Quadrant story arc has literally hundreds of Hur'q ground NPC's to kill, a literal swarm of bugs!
Specific locations for Harvesting Materials
So a very awesome user over at r/STO called u/lordzandor has created a very cool list of all the patrol missions in the game. This includes details of which patrol maps have both space and ground materials to harvest.
There are several which have at least 4 nodes in space, so those would be prime targets for anyone needing to complete that as an endeavor task.
Also, you can warp in/out of a system as many times as you want to keep refreshing those nodes should you need more than there are present in a map for a task.
