So just wondering who was planning on getting it and what platform? I wasn't going to get it originally but I'm leaning towards it now the more I've seen of it. Or are you waiting for the VIP or open demos to try it first?

Ok, after playing it for a bit (or trying too, that is), I like the game.

The flying needs A LOT OF TWEAKING. Flying with the mouse controls is a little unwieldy if you have a high DPI mouse like mine, making it way too easy to overcorrect and start weaving about like a moron (and making me a little motion sick TBH).

But the Verticality of the game, OMG. I was playing the second mission and it had us going up 20 stories up a waterfall, then attacking a camp on a valley floor then up a cliff on the other side of a mountain. I'm pretty sure the map we were on was small, X-Y area wise, but when you factor in the Z-Axis, it's huge.

The combat mechanics: Pure Bioware. This is like if Mass Effect Andromeda and Mass Effect 3 had a baby, and that baby grew up to Cure Cancer. Tons of fun. Some of the publications who are reviewing the game already have it right, Feels like Destiny 2 but keeps that Bioware/Mass Effect feel.

I've not followed this one to any great degree, but one of the major things that drove me away from Destiny was the refusal to add matchmaking to several activities. The fact that Anthem has it for everything from the word go is quite tempting.

I'm going to echo Aceman here, played a few missions of it so far on PC and overall I'm liking it. Combat wise he hit the nail on the head they've perfected the combat from ME:3 and ME:A and it's great fun, same with the world in terms of verticality. When I first started following the game I thought the lack of constant flying was going to suck but although you have to land occasionally to cooldown (which by the way landing and running in water will help speed up the cooldown which is a nice touch) isn't that bad and there's usually enemies around to fight while waiting, although you don't have to fully cooldown before flying again, even if you just do enough to get out of a touch situation if you have to land in a swarm of enemies.

I'd also agree with him on the flying if you're playing with a keyboard and mouse on PC, I might not have as high a DPI on my mouse as he does but flying can be a bit of an adjustment when compaired to using a controller. ( I have an old 360 controller I use and gave it a try.) The flying is much smoother and a little easier to handle than using a mouse and keyboard but I switched back to the mouse and assuming you have a mouse with adjustable DPI or tweak with the settings after a little practice you can fly and land pretty well with a k+m control scheme.

As far as the matchmaking goes it's a little hard to say since the randoms I grouped with were all level 10 with me but you can get to level 15 in the demo so maybe we'll have a better answer then.

Story wise I've liked what I've seen so far although not all the characters in Fort Tarsis are avaliable to talk to in the demo but in terms of dialogue and what I've seen so far I think it's pretty good, it at least feels like the proper Bioware writing we expect from them, at least comparied to the rather average writing we got for Andromeda.

Any game with Power armor is a win for me. but since this is EA I am somewhat concerned over micro-transactions.

Well what they say is that all microtransactions are going to be cosmetic only, EA are sticking to the breaks after the whole SWBF2 fiasco. There will be 2 forms of currency Coins which can be earned in game and Shards which cost real money. All things in the store can be brought with coins or shards but coins will obviously be a grind and there are no lootboxes, what you see is what you buy, much like STO's Zen store or SWTOR's Cartel Market by the sounds of it in terms of there being featured items that encourage impulse buying based on the cosmetics.

So far cosmetics include armor variants, vinyl skins, and textures for your armor and Emotes.
