The format of Discovery doesn't really work as something rewatchable to me, because it's a continuous story, and lacks standalone episodes, I just don't see the potential for me personally. With the older Star Treks, or other shows I enjoy, like NCIS, I can just pick an episode I like, go to it, and watch it, it's not quite the same with Discovery, unless you wanted to rewatch the whole thing!
Discovery does have a handful of standalone episodes, but none really stand out as ones I want to watch again, like "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad" I think was the Mudd one, where he kept rewinding time, it was very "meh", and Mudd is just a Poundland version of Q for me, he's not really got the same charm, or charisma.

Out of my love for Star Trek, I watch Discovery.
Out of love for myself, I only watch each episode one time.
I suffer Discovery (most episodes, but not all) to support Star Trek on TV, with hope that it will eventually improve.

I can't really name an episode in the first series that I liked enough to make me go watch it again as it would highlight just how bad it was compared to the current series.
With the current series, as Three mentioned, because of the nature of the storytelling it's difficult to separate episodes without refreshing your memory by watching those that lead up to it. So I'm not going to spend six hours catching up for the sake of one.

Well. I suppose the mirror universe arc is something I'd watch again if I really had to. The mirror universe episodes are something I watch from other Trek time and time again as well.
In general though, I don't think I would.

I watch it weekly with my family and then tend to rewatch later when i have time to digest the more intricate details and easter eggs. And i'll often discuss the episode on other sites and then use that discussion to spot things i may have missed the first time.
It may not have many stand alone episodes right now but who knows how long it'll go on for or where it'll lead. A lot of TV shows these days are heavily plot arc driven though, so it's not anything DSC is doing out of the ordinary.
The older "alien of the week" Star Trek is not likely to come back; that style of TV just doesn't seem to be favourable these days.

Works well enough for NCIS! Obviously it's not alien of the week it's bad guy of the week, but it still works.

I rewatched season 1 leading up to season 2.
The only DSC episode I haven’t watched twice is the Klingon episode and last nights.

Never actually watched it but i gather it's essentially a CSI type affair, so the "baddie of the week" format seems to work ok for police procedural shows I guess.

I rewatched Season one, because, setting the fact that it's Star Trek aside, It functions well as a good space opera, and even then, I still like the series.
I had no love for TOS, Shatner's ego and lousy acting and the dated campy-ness of the series, frankly kills any enjoyment of the series bar for a few episodes (City on the Edge of Forever is a good example), and I honestly didn't like how Roddenberry was helming the franchise up until his departure for health reasons in the late 80s/early 90s, which coincidentally is around the same time that TNG 'Grew the Beard' and the quality of the series started to pick up dramatically.
He's a great world builder, but a great writer he was not, and there are some aspects of The Original Series that were quite honestly bad writing, like how Roddenberry insisted that there be no conflict between the crew. How can you have a character driven serial drama like Star Trek with out... drama? Foretting the non-human characters in the cast, you can't have that many people with differeing personalities and backgrounds with out some conflct between the two. It's human nature.
I was too young to really enjoy TNG as it was airing, Deep Space Nine is still my favourite series (And IMHO is the best Trek series in terms of writing and character development, and it did the most for Trek as a whole in developing the universe of Star Trek, you'd need only look at what we consider to be Klingons and remember that DS9 gave us that), and Voyager... It's passible, for all its cheesyness. Enterprise had a rough start, but Season 4 was criminally underrated.
But Discovery, I haven't been drawn in with anticipation to find out what's coming next for a Trek series since the closing episodes of the final season of DS9. For all it's flaws, it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.
I can understand disliking the series. You're more than entitled too. Just don't ruin other peoples enjoyment.
Discovery isn't a Police Proceedural, NCIS-type writing wouldn't work in this case.

The formula worked for older Treks, and works for NCIS, which is a modern show, so there's no reason why it can't work for a new Trek, outside of people saying "I love Discovery the way it is", which is fine, but just liking a show one way, doesn't mean another way can't work.

It seems to work out just fine for Dr Who, still doing the bad guy of the week for the last 11 series. Not saying that Discovery should do it, just trying to say that they could do it if they wanted as that style of storytelling in Sci-fi isn't dead.

I've re-watched the final episode of Season 1 a few times (I just like the scene of the Enterprise pulling up to the Discovery) but I've not watched the rest of them over. This is not out of any sort of embedded dislike of the series, it's partly I need a bit of time to pass before I watch something again and partly my using my free time to catch up on things like sleep I did watch some of TNG again recently however.
I watch films over and over again, but by and large I rarely revisit TV shows once I've seen them these days. Had every intention of getting through The Walking Dead (only seen the first season) but just never got around to it. Same with NCIS, I just can't keep up with it anymore.
Say what you will about Discovery, but I really like the ship designs they have in it.

I did rewatch the final two episodes of Season 1 as a refresher, but I see no reason to torture myself with any more Burnham than I have to endure.
What I really need is a cupholder and a couple of Advil.-Quincy Taggart
