She was seen a couple of times throughout the season, she just wasn’t a bridge officer.
Also, the actor is who played Airiam in season 1.
Yea, I also thought that. Because of the Nod's and reaction. Airiam had a plastic nose and 'make-up' is quiet good, I wondered if perhaps the person in the beach scene, was simply a new casting for that one scene, or someone who they more recently recast as Airiam.
My only concern is Section 31 in the early era of Trek has suddenly been able to create a 'time machine' so to speak. While Section 31 considered the project lost / abandoned, clearly with the suit and it's lead researcher / engineer returned... ...have we just seen Temporal Tech, introduced far earlier than it should have? Yet we saw in 'The City on the Edge of Forever' where Leonard McCoy travels back in time, and others to save Whales with the slingshot around a Star.
So I wonder where this is going to lead.
Still even when they thought the Red Angel was Burnham, I was positive it was someone else they had yet to consider.

It was stupid back than, seriously Discovery has ♥♥♥♥♥♥ actors, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ writing and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ technological explanations, and the best part is Section 31 has developed a Time Traveling Suit, a SUIT.
Not wishing to start an argument here, but why do you watch the show if you so consistently dislike it?
I mean if i hated something that much i'd just forget it existed and not watch it.
Anyhooo....
I did enjoy the episode, not the best when compared to the last two episodes for sure and some bits were a bit odd. I thought it could have done with a bit more focus on the whole background for Daedalus and maybe extended the capture plot to next week to draw it out a bit.
- The bit in engineering with Georgiou and Stammets was very odd and i'm not sure what purpose it served really. I think we'll see more on that side of things in future episodes as it looks like she has some plan afoot.
- Time crystals have been mentioned before and tbh they are no more odd that a bazillion other techno-nonsense items we've seen over the last 50+yrs of Trek. Plus they are a real thing, though not very well understood at the moment (they are almost a perpetual motion system).
- The memorial service was well done. Nice to hear from different crew there.
- Admiral Cornwell for next season's captain? Well she's gonna need a demotion first i guess but who knows.
- Didn't see the mother being the angel but it adds an interesting twist to a plot we all thought we'd worked out. I theorize that during the attack she used the suit to escape and stop is falling into the Klingon's hands but she got thrown into time (the far future) as it was done in an unplanned manner. She finds a galaxy under attack by genocidal machines and sets about trying to save it with time travel. Maybe she picked her daughter as she'd have some knowledge of what she might become due to time travel.
- Burnham getting used as bait was nothing unusual for sci-fi or trek shows tbh, we've seen similar plans a million times, we know how it goes.
- Guessing Control was already in the present as it took "control" of the S31 ship's computer momentarily there near the end? Killing Leland was unexpected for sure, I think he was a good guy just doing things the wrong way.

Yea, I was fairly certain it wasn't Burnham, and at the same time, I think they were waiting to reveal it at the last moment.

Yeah about that, how does an optical scanner suddenly sprout an eight inch needle and drive it into Leyland's brain? Who would even place a giant needle in a scanner just in case an evil AI from the future (TM) decides to activate it to off a random character? If it wasn't initially there, that's levels of machinery creation and malevolence attributed to the Borg, which I really hope it isn't because that's just damn lazy. Come to think of it, how many times have we seen the 'AI goes nuts' storyline in Star Trek alone, nevermind the rest of Sci-Fi? M5 in TOS, Skynet in Terminator, Replicators in Stargate just off the top of my head.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that if Control has infected the ship's computer then it can in theory use both the replicators and transporters to alter literally anything on board and cover its tracks with alterations to the computer records.
I mean I know it's a bit odd for that needle to be there, but this is an AI that may be based on future tech, or partly so; it could be capable of anything for all we know.
Looks like Control was hiding in plain sight all along, so it probably knows their plan and maybe allowed it to work to leave the Red Angel within easy reach. Or it followed it through time before they could spot it.
I predict that next week it tries to use the S31 ship (does it have a name or class yet?) to kidnap or destroy the Red Angel to stop the attempts against its plans. Discovery is going to have to fight its way to safety and destroy that ship I think.

Episode was garbage, from start to finish.
Scenes towards the end of people showing concern about the possibility of Burnham dying were pointless. It was obvious the character was in no danger, she was never going to die, the scenes adding nothing new to character development, they were just filler.
The nonsense about the time crystal sounded like they were just common items traded around, like "Oh yeah, I got this time crystal from the black market." as if they come up more than once in shady markets, silly.
And it turns out Mary Sue's mother isn't dead after all, she's a time traveling hero, or something, damn that's a stupid plot line.
I haven't been this annoyed by an episode of Discovery in quite some time, bloody hell.

AI's going rogue is a clear and present danger, quite a possible threat, and has already happened in one form or another, so far in mild forms, e.g. remember Microsofts Twitter AI? Humanity is trying to create literally an artifical intelligence while at the same time doesn't understand their own brains to 100% just yet.

I know I did. I was actually angry at the thought of her being the Angel. Mainly because it made ZERO sense. I'm also starting to suffer from a bit of Burnham fatigue. Hence why a part of me jumps for joy when she is taken down a peg by Spock or anybody else.

And once again, after winning our trust, DSC show manages to deflate and dissapoint. I'm not surprised, but I was hoping for something ... Better.

It was a good episode...to an extent. I'll echo what Tilly said in the engineering lab....
OK What Just Happened?!?
The engine room banter was great. Giorgio was & is fantastic! You can tell Michelle Yeoh is built for Star Trek.
Time Crystals? I'm sorry, but wut?
Leland getting punched in the face was satisfying.(Yes, Burnham should've gotten s*** for it, but the look on Leeland's face said it all. 'Yep, I deserved that.')
All in all, it was ok.

Sorry Heyallo, but I have to agree with Three here. This episode was infuriating! The 'cliffhanger' was weak at best, and realistically, it was just bad writing that resulted in this plotline. I'm sad for the state that Discovery is in.
