It's weird but then, all of the diplomats are UFP rather than Starfleet, so they're civilians. Having civilian staff is, therefore, perfectly normal.

On a Starfleet vessel with a deep space exploration mission, it'd be a little more unusual, but not impossible. One of the partners of a starfleet officer could be drafted to assist in line with their skills and qualifications, especially if there's a major incident.

The map we've been using for the roleplay was among the ones which got deleted awhile ago. I managed to dig it up so we can use again. I'll update the map later on so it stays accurate to our story, including adding locations as needed.



Taking a look around, Starbase 10 isn't even on this map. From what I checked on in Memory Alpha, it is located relatively close to the Romulan Neutral Zone and the border between Federation / Klingon Space. That puts the Starbase in the Beta Quadrant.

A better choice for this would be Starbase 310 as it's practically next door to where we are (bottom right corner). Another location for a resupply is Gamma 7 (south of Rolor Nebula / west of Badlands). Thoughts on the slight course adjustment for a resupply?

BTW; on introducing Akyv and her Father;

I'm putting something together to introduce the civilian transport (leaning on a Sydney Class ship), explaining it and its escort are transporting a delegation of Federation Officials to Cardassia Prime for a conference. My post will mainly be focused on the bridge to announce it's arrival, a few small introductions, and giving a reason for it stopping by on its way to the conference. Anything you want me to include in my post?

Not really strange or out of place. There have been plenty of instances within Star Trek episodes where civilians are onboard the ship doing something. However, you did mention in your last story post that she was contacting you from Starbase 10.

If you make an edit to that post saying her message to you came from a civilian ship that just entered the system, then introducing her won’t be a problem. Maybe you can introduce a supporting character for Sam in the Diplomacy department while you’re at it, like an aide. That way it would make the arrival official business for Starfleet yet personal for your character.

If you want, you could use that character I pmed you about a while back, the side character I wanted to be an aide to Sam. His name is Asa Biney. I'm still working on the bio, but basically he's the son of a Federation High Commissioner, from a family long connected to politics. He's basically being pushed into this to pad his resume a bit. He's being groomed for a political position in the future, but it's really not his desire, it's his ambitious father's desire. He's 34 years old and the faceclaim is Chiwetel Ejiofor.

If it works for this purpose, it's fine, but if it doesn't, I can just start him at Starbase 3.

The weird thing I found in research for a side character is this: The show references a Federation Diplomatic Corps and a Starfleet Diplomatic Corps. I think the latter was referenced once in Star Trek Insurrection, as they said the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps were busy with Dominion negotiations, so they couldn't handle contact with that small race that gave Picard the beaded headdress. <br>

Diplomats SHOULD be UFP, and I think that "Starfleet Diplomatic Corps" was just a mistake, but perhaps there is a branch of the FDC that coordinates more closely with Starfleet, with mission assignments based on starbases and ships instead of planets? Maybe they even get a little Starfleet basic training, so they're more equipped for emergencies, and familiar with protocol? Could even be that they coordinate with Starfleet to take over missions after First Contact.

Sorry for posting such a stub of a post which holds your character circling the base! *L* By all means, if you need to move forward, go ahead. I dont forsee the squadron being used again in this particular conflict, but that post just gives the impression that you all are circling until the operation is done.


If you need to go on ahead, just post something like "After the mountain base operation was done, etc, etc," because I might not be able to get to the actual mountain ground fight post until tomorrow, although I'm working on it today. But I dont want you to think that you're held in place by this last post, because I know that you are going to do something with Tess's sister.
