All I see is Discovery related rubbish content. As a life timer, very disappointed with the way the new content has gone.

If they return to canon content (ST Original, ST TNG, ST DS9 and ST VOY) I might return. For the moment nothing is compelling me to log in.

You're not going to find a lot of people who share your point of view (there are 1 or 3 who do), and I'm not one of them. That being said, Discovery is Canon, whether someone likes it or not.

Canon when it comes to Star Trek is whatever CBS or Paramount says it is (For example, the Countdown comics leading up to the first JJ Trek film are canon), or whatever is Officially produced by CBS or Paramount and appears on TV or Film.

You're free to your opinion, however, but that is what it is: An opinion.

I'll give you that before you get dislike-lynched. Discovery is not Star Trek. I personally disliked the content that came with the TOS missions.

But Cryptic makes amazing gameplay content (ships, gear, features) from crappy shows, so it's good work and I appreciate it.

If you try and put the Discovery spite (which is totally justified) , you'll find out that the content implemented is really solid work. Gear, ships, rewarding system. Everything is really well put.

Do me a favor. Humor me and come back with feedback. From one Discovery-disliker to another. Cheers!

Wut? Having a differing opinion doesn't get you a massive amount of dislikes, but overly argumentative comments, and baiting does. I don't like Discovery all that much, but I don't get bombed with dislikes, and it's not because I'm a CL6, it's because I'm not bringing pointless politics into the discussion.

As for Discovery content in STO, doesn't bother me all the much, there are a lot of things that have happened in STO that have put people off over the years, some people stopped playing from the introduction of Lockbox Ships, where you had Federation captains flying alien ships, which to some ruins the immersion. It's really up to you as to what ruins it for you, personally, back when I was an active player, I didn't bother too much about things that made no sense, I played STO just as a game to mess around in.

Although, there is JJ Trek content in the game as well, which certainly isn't Prime canon. There is also some book content as I recall, some of the ships are based on the Star Trek books.

STO is a collection of all the Treks, you don't have to play the content you don't like. I play the content I don't like because I want to know what it is, but if it's really off putting to you, it shouldn't hold you back. Unless it does these days, I don't know, I'm so far behind the times in STO!

You shouldn't be upset they added it and not surprised. Its the concurrent Trek out right now even if you dont like it. They have stated many times they wanted to add it due to the old and/or new audience of trek wanting a game that has disc in it. More options

When the Picard series is released I’m sure we will get a ton of content with that, especially for Romulan fans as I think the series features Romulans pretty prominently.

When the Section 31 series premiers we will probably get a lot of that as well at that time.

It is a common thing to be dislike-lynched when you have a different opinion who triggers a negative response. Everywhere, not just here.

But besides this, Discovery stuff brought solid content to STO.

Weaponry, traits and ships that are really solid content.

There are people who leave games due to dumb reasons. As long as their reason makes sense to themselves, it should be fine.

It's a common lashout and instead of using the "politics this, politics that" you could realize the typical response of any common folk to PC-dump over his favorite franchise. Cryptic knows this and avoids taking the show-print of Discovery, which results in good content, shiny and solid gear.

What most of us fail to realize is that Star Trek was politically correct before it was cool to be a nPC. It challenged certain norms of belief since TOS and TNG took acceptance of diversity to another level without offending anyone. It was genuine towards EVERYONE, promoting fairness and equity. In DS9 and Voyager or Enterprise, these values were blurred to create conflict through differences, which was an amazing plot device.

To sum it up, I feel for the guy. He genuinely disliked what Discovery offers as a show.

He just needs to judge the content without any preconceptions (it's sheete because it's Discovery branded - which is unfounded.)

We got some really good TFOs, some solid rewards, content revamp and really good gameplay tools. Once you try them up, it doesn't even matter that they're discovery-related.

Yes, I hope God listens to your supposition and turns that into STO content and material. Romulans, yes!

If that would happen, great times would be coming to STO and its players.

I'm definitely not the biggest fan, but STO is a special case....it's a mix of many things....of canon, non-canon, and completely made up for game things. while the seasons all have had Discovery names recently there really isn't a lot around that would be consider must do content that requires doing Discovery missions.

You can pretty much ignore most of them...the devs said they aren't going to suddenly change the entire Klingon race to Discovery Klingons....they're even making 25th Century skins for Discovery ships if you don't care for them.

So all in all even if you hate Discovery there isn't a whole lot of Discovery truly forced upon you.

Please, please don;t try to start the whole "Discovery isn't canon" war here. That way of thinking is patently illogical and just trying to start a fire when none is needed.
Discovery is canon whether you, or all the hatred-spewing Youubers scream your opinion from the rooftops until you're blue in the face. Nothing can change that.

If you dislike that content so much....just don't play it. STO is just a themepark with lots of different Trek flavoured rides. If you don't fancy one, try another.
