So I caved and bought the ship. It looks amazing.
I’ve cobbled together a version of Bridger’s build using parts I had lying around and it does ok I think. I’m not an amazing pilot and I’ve never really got into flying beam cruisers so we’ll see how it goes.

Likewise, I've adapted Bridger's build with what I have.
The key to pilotting a dreadnought, is to barely pilot it / not pilot it. You just bring your ship in range and let fighters engage it. It's not a playstyle everyone enjoys though.
I've been enjoying results of Bridger's build too, but I need to fully level it before taking it for official ISA parse run.

Not specifically, but for ENG/SCI it can boost several offensive abilities quite nicely. In fact I don't know many TAC who use it, while it may not be bad however, often there is better options. I don't believe even Bridger used it in his TAC build here. I've generally avoided posting build's online, but you never know, maybe one day soon I'll have to rethink it.
I am aware we use SCM though, I generally try to avoid installing it.
Yet if I do a build I'd likely stay clear of TAC, so focus more exclusively on ENG/SCI, though I do have 2 strong TAC Captains--with all specializations. I'd assume some will require a bit of time to level the ship, acquire and level some consoles, gear, or others from Missions, REP, or the Colony as well. Still I'm sure in 1-4 weeks we'll see several very good builds, maybe even my first one ever...
Arno though seems like another ENG whose exploring options as well.
PS: Beyond the Nexus in the closing cut-scene, at the edge of paradise, the ship can look truly amazing!

One benefit of playing engineer I realized is that are not as dependent on healing equipment or traits which means I can concentrate more on offense, which means I can replace the trait repair crews with a trait like operative or swap out the originated console for a diplomatic converter added turn and crit. Chance/severity of swapping out the 2 colony tac consoles for 2 more vulnerability locators and going for the innervated shield over the fortified one.

Sure is an interesting beast to fly, that's for sure.
The lack of top end tac powers means i'm thinking outside the box a bit which is nice. Running it with Command and Strategist specs, that way i can lay down some nasty debuffs on the enemy when they get hit by a barrage of beam shots, goes fairly well with the gravimetric photon i have slotted. I must admit i'm tempted to swap the torp for a wide angle variant, simply to make it easier to get off shots when circling a target; no need to tip my bow or stern in to drop a torp spread.
Tried using beam overload as a tac power as i didn't have all the ones Bridger has but it's just crap; waste of time that ability is.
I'm doing ok I think. Not record breaking but it melted through the Malon and Kazon in Argala (the Hirogen were a pain due to their stun ability). First major change will be some better pets, the Advanced Peregrines I'm using die too easily.

I'm using purple peregrines and they seem to be doing ok. A few of them explode for no reason every now and then, I kinda wish we could throw out a couple of those Frigates that came with the science carrier. Now that'd be fun.
I do need to sort out my specialties as I'm running it with the miracle worker and strategist right now as I lack hull healing and I don't think my pew is up to the task.
I ran into the same issue with the gravi torp, so I might try the prolonged engagement one as I seem to remember it having a 180 field of fire. Plus I'll get the two piece bonus for having the beam as well.

Yeah the Prolonged Engagment one, and the Wide Angle Quantum from the Regent Assault Cruiser would work. There's also a Voth Chroniton-Transphasic one but that's a bit pants.

I fully agree with that Statement.
Still I've generally avoided full builds or providing a parse, it's just not perhaps my 'thing' or something I 'focus' on, but I realize many do enjoy sharing & looking for recommendations. I do however enjoy the debate and like to see others thoughts, on occasion I will share a few more general idea's, or emphasize when something be reconsidered. Life is an adventure and process of discovery, to learning who we are or want to become.
Generally my ENG/SCI characters '7 of 9' (no PUN intended) are very balanced in all disciplines, yet can be extremely effective in all Class of ships, in fact my TAC's often follow a very similar approach. Cryptic often provides 2/3 different ways to approach things, so part of that even a TAC whose 'all' in, can balance with Universal Consoles from 2/3 skill areas. You can also reconsider Gear/Equipment &/or perhaps a few Trait's. That was all I was trying to state. I think a few have now reconsidered this ship, and know given time will see several very good builds, especially as others have time to explore or master the ship--which was I think a point you made earlier.
Command & Miracle worker Specializations are good possibilities, or Command and Temporal, perhaps even Command and Constable perhaps depending if your ENG/SCI/TAC based.
Still the T6 Ambassador may help some, but will depend on your build, or consider obtaining Honored Dead especially for Federation characters.
NOTE: History will Remember & Honored Dead once a stack is earned remain forever, at least until you leave the map. The sale on now also a good time to maybe consider the Ambassador Class.
Prolonged Engagement Set is another very good set as suggested by someone in our Fleet, as is perhaps the Kentari Mass-Produced Missle which pairs 'very' well with another I eluded to should you choose 2 Torp's; some 'find' 1 works best but two is very viable. Regardless Surface Tension with Admiral Tuvok also has some good options, and to complete the SET you do 8472 REP. In it the console provides Phaser & Disruptor bonus, not to mention Kinetic & Radiation, which can also benefit the first two items identified here.
Advanced Engine's Trait from REP &/or a Crafted ENG/SCI consoles can also improve turn rate.
The Sunrise Mission with a Dying Star also pairs with Kentari & likely several other creative solutions found in Beyond the Nexus I referenced to much earlier with Geordi.
What works best for everyone is going to vary a lot, as there's too many variables from skills, gear, consoles, trait's, etc... ...so the only way to really know what works best for you is to explore. In fact there are other very good opportunities, depending on your build choices from Colony or others as well.

And the Buran Command Dreadnought Ship Trait 'Unified Engineering' can also be quite nice especially if you FOCUS on Command in your ENG Commander slot.
Earlier I eluded it works very well the two set bonus from Nexus SET, and may also help you be more nimble for sure.
