Federation could take the death penalty as a means to avert another war so soon, seeing the actions of the Barrons as likely to escalate into another conflict that Starfleet can hardly afford. But, there's no way we'd actually space Ensign Barron when there's so many other ways to have fun with him. We could request that "Mmm Bop" be played on a loop in his cell for 18 hours a day as part of his therapy. Program his replicator to only deliver Plomeek soup. The possibilities are endless.

I didn't think too much about the fallout aboard other ships and we REALLY don't want an internal cold war within Starfleet or a witch hunt, like what happened in the TNG Episode; Drumhead. Let's fix that my having the transmissions be directed to Starfleet Command, so only the top people know what's going on and can filter things down to where it's needed, and the starship Athena, which we'll have appear in long range sensors as the hostage situation is concluding going on.

Barron dying for his crimes would indeed likely make him a martyr for other bad people but could also terrorize good people. Since the Federation condemns the death penalty, the thought of actually using it would not reassure them of us being the "highly moral" society which uses violence as a last resort. We are better than that.

I hear Starfleet's combat rations are delicious; perhaps he can enjoy some of those during his time in captivity aboard our ship?

I dont think you have to go back and change anything. I was just presenting a dramatic opportunity, if anyone wanted to go in that direction. But otherwise, it kind of boils down to something I remember hearing a British submarine commander say about the movie Crimson Tide. It's entertaining, but on a real ship, you'd never have the crew turning on each other like that, because they are professionals. <br>
So in other words, we can trust officers will watch the feed, and the only effect will be that Ensign and Admiral Barron, and anyone else Barron named, will be thought of as traitors. The conspiracy doesn't necessarily have to extend to the specific ships in our system, and if there are conspirators aboard, what are they going to do? They'll tell their other contacts, which would happen anyway if there wasn't a live feed, because Barron has been arrested. So there's flexibility on what to do. You can play it really dramatic and end up with a firefight with Starfleet vessels in the system, or play it normal, and just bag Barron up and transfer him to the nearest Starbase.

No drama; we're getting it done by having Barron arrested and, with Starfleet Command being the point of contact, minimal fallout among the rest of the Federation. The stuff with Admiral Barron and the Athena will occur in the background. They're still going to show up the way I described earlier so a different ship, one untouched by her influence, can transport her and the other conspirators out.

We’re still going to do something with it as those ships are leaving soon to take the Ambassadors who visited us to their conference and take Barron off our hands. We don’t need to be too fancy with it since we have a fair amount we need to and can still do.

Sam’s wedding, a final talk with Barron, doing something with the Nausicaan base, and the ending with the USS Angelic are “need to done”.

“Can does” include a funeral for Amita Patel, locating the Dominon Battleship crash site, and a discussion with the Cardassians / Dorvans to resolve final concerns about security. I hope that isn’t too much to do for the remainder of the Chapter as I know we don’t want to be here forever.

BTW guys, would you mind if Tess is in her off duty uniform for a bit, (See page 23, 5th uniform) as I kinda want to develop her as a character because at the moment her backstory and so on is very small RP wise, and I wanna show how Tess is meant to be different from other Vulcans to a small extent.
