I would not recomand going Antiproton anymore it has been outclassed quite a bit by now.

I know, it was just a suggestion if he chooses to stick with AP.

And damn, that BOFF layout on the Phantom is a headscratcher. This is what I came up with, OBVIOUSLY not optimized for DPS or to top the charts, but survivability if used with Bridgers A2B tree, and should get him through till he can get some better gear/starship traits, as I'm trying to fix the immediate problem, getting rekt while levelling (hur'q are a bitch). (I'll leave the MOAR DEEPS layout to you Bridger, you might even have a better idea)

Pair this with The Best Defense trait from House Pegh mission, and 3 Technician DOFFS (recharge variant, whatever you can afford, something is better than nothing, these DOFFS will recharge your BOFF abilities when Aux2Batt is used, which means more Attack Patterns going off, which means more hull healing from The Best Defense), and keep Tactical Team, Aux2Batt and Override Subsystem Safeties on Cooldown and you should be good. Not optimal at the end game obviously, but should help you get to max level.

Than he could follow my Defiant Build (use Withering Barrage and Scatter Volley instead of Go for the Kill and Rapid FIre) but just use that Boff-Layout
