[Spoiler] - Discovery timeline

trying to put a theory where Discovery stands in the Star Trek timeline, and how the writers could address issues that have arose till now.

Canonically it takes place 10 years before The Original series in the prime timeline.

After the ending of Season 2, that has changed as ship has travelled to future timeline.

How so? Yes, they went into the future, but that doesn't mean they're on a different timeline than the Prime Timeline.

I suppose I didn't mean timeline differentiation.

I mean, era. Like how we had ENT era, TOS era, TNG era, etc.

Disco's now discovering a future 32nd era.

Yeah the timeline is pretty easy to work out and follow tbh.

ENT > The Cage > DSC > (S31 series?) > TOS/TAS > TNG/DS9/VOY > Picard >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> S3 DSC

S3 will be so far into the future i'm assuming as to be almost a totally different galaxy which I think could be really interesting. They have the ability now to literally go mad and make up all sorts of things from that gap between the destruction of Hobus/Romulus and S3.

I think the proper term we should be using is Era rather than timeline, as that would be the appropriate term for discussing Prime vs Kelvin, or Prime vs Yesterday's Enterprise, etc.

Yes that makes much more sense. I mean technically it's still a timeline but Trek has multiple different ones, Prime, Kelvin, Ent-C, Sphere Builder future...it just gets too confusing.

Oh yes! Here's a teaser of what we know: Someone pointed out to me that the "V'draysh" that Craft was fighting against is really just an alternate pronunciation of "Federation." V-dr-AY-sh[un]. So how crazy is that going to be?

Yes the producers actually confirmed that name is a bastardised version of the word Federation so we sort of know where things might be heading.
The fact that Craft was pretty unfamiliar with the vessel or anything even remotely like the Starfleet we all know hunts that either things are very different in the future or he’s not been exposed to and able to recognise historical Federation technology.
Makes one wonder how messed up the future really is.

On other hand, it's possible that Federation itself combined with another galactic body too. I suppose Craft not knowing a historic vessel had more to do with a soldier busy fighting present day war than being well versed in historical events and ships.

The interesting part of that to me is not that he wasn't familiar with the ship or Federation Standard, but that he didn't appear to be familiar with the level of technology, like it seemed advanced to him.

That's what I'm thinking. Could even be a situation where Humans have their own faction, and Craft was fighting on behalf of that faction, that doesn't even identify as Federation anymore. It should be interesting to see what they're doing.
