The Orville Move to Hulu

The Orville is moving to Hulu in the US for S3 which will premier in the FALL of 2020. Can't say I'm surprised, network TV is tough for a genre show like this. I'm happy for sure as this will move it away from traditional ratings as a primary factor for renewals. International distribution information has yet to be released.

People on the webs are funny. Some are complaining about the paywall, not gonna watch anymore, blah blah blah......others are praising the move. Whats funny is some of the same people praising the move are the same people that crushed Star Trek for being on a streaming service

People will always find something to complain about, that's just how it is, but yay, orville is coming back and I don't have to sign up for a new streaming service!!!

None of the international distributors have been decided yet, including Canada. Because it’s not airing until the fall of 2020 a lot of traditional networks are pullout out as they were counting on programming for the 19-20 tv season and the fall of 20 is in the 20-21 tv season. From what I a, reading this is what prompted the move to Hulu in the US.

Hulu is flat out not available in Canada, and getting the broadcast rights for The Orville was a huge boon for CityTV, making them a lot of money, I HIGHLY doubt that will change. CityTV even went so far as to take out radio Ads to advertise their TV lineups.

I’m not saying they won’t be on CityTV, I’m just saying that all distributors have been “reset” for lack of a better term. There will be no Orville on the upcoming tv season and a lot of them were very upset as they were counting on the programming.

Well, I wasn't able to watch it in the first place, still not able to watch it.

I do think there would be a better solution to individual streaming sites though, what if, there was on central hub, where shows went onto and the production companies would get a cut out of it? Rather than having such seperation, it's comparable to having to buy each TV channel seperatly...

Would be wonderful for viewers however it’s unlikely it would bring in the cash the current model does.
