I watched this, 'EC Henry' really does a good job and break down the dynamics of starships. I enjoyed watching this and the Enterprise D video.
He has a point, despite the Connie disappearing the Miranda still is around, even though they were mostly cannon fodder in the Dominion War as we saw many blown away.

I think one of the benifits to the Miranda is that it can be built quicker than larger ships, so ypu can get them on thr trint easier. They can also he refitted faster.

Its common sense, which is why RL navies aren't heavily populated with aircraft carriers and battleships, but destroyers and frigates. They're cheaper to produce, quicker to produce, cheaper to maintain/run, require fewer crew and are multi-role.
The Miranda, despite the fact that it's primary focus in the canon universe was to be blown up dramatically in lieu of the 'hero ships', they were populus because they were perfect for Starfleet's main responsibiliy of patrolling Federation space, protecting Federation civilian traffic and responding to internal issues. Connies were the heavy cruisers of the fleet and were expensive, so were limited to roles best suited to their mission profile - exploration and such.
The Excelsior is another perfect example of this that they were spammed out like crap because the Galaxy class was so costly to produce and a waste of a valuable resource to be used purely for ferrying lazy-ass Admirals and Ambassadors around the Federation. You'll notice in the 2370's that even though they were building role specific smaller ships like the Defiant and the Intrepid, the Miranda's still had a role to play whereas the Connies just weren't adaptable enough for that role.
Of course, you could adopt the cynical view of RL in that it was a lot cheaper on the effects department to just reuse Miranda/Excelsior models during TNG/DS9 filming.
I'd be delighted to offer any advice I have on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know.

But didn't DS9 use a LOT of CG ships? So if they had the entire fleet digitized, using Mirandas was a choice, not a case of, "Well we have this over in the corner. We could load this onto the armature."

True it was a choice, but they still went with easily recognisable starships.
I thought it was more interesting to note what types of ships didn't appear much in the CG fleets. Nebula's, Nova's, Intrepid's (which we know they did use in DS9), Defiant's, Steamrunners, Sabres, and so on. They went with generically recognised vessels for some reason - Galaxy's, Miranda's and Excelsiors. You could explain it in terms of an 'in universe' decision in that they had an awful lot of them and could spam them out en-mass for fleet actions. In terms of CG, it was probably a lot easier to just 'copy/paste' previously used designs.
I'd be delighted to offer any advice I have on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know.

If I remember rightly, the production team started to transition over to CGI instead of using physical models in 1996 and fully switched over by 1997 (DS9 Season 6/Voyager Season 4).
This is part of the reason why no shield effects are visible during the big battle sequences on the later DS9 episodes, the team didn't render them in favour of getting more ships on screen. Also the reason why the Norway class only appears in First Contact - the CGI model got corrupted after shooting and no physical model of it existed.

I am surprised that the regular Excelsior class made it to the TNG era but not the Excelsior refit ? The ship that was the Enterprise B was more superior than the original design. But if the Constitution was not economical or practical in the TNG era then why the Excelsior ? The Excelsior had to be more costly for its time than the connie, was larger and more sophisticated.
Let's not forget the Battle of Wolf 359, a multitude of different ship classes fought that battle, we got to see the wreckage too.
Starfleet must have not liked the Constellation Class Picard's old ship appeared to have potential but only showed in one episode and we got to see the awesome 'Picard Maneuver'.
The Dominion War featured quite a few Galaxy Class ships. But if I remember the Yamato I think disintegrated and exploded in one TNG episode; Picard lost a friend if I'm not mistaken.

The Yamato was infected with the Iconian virus and suffered a warp core breach due to the system failures. The Enterprise we know, the other Galaxy class vessel we saw destroyed onscreen was the USS Odyssey.
The other 3 clearly named ships where the USS Galaxy (Tears of the Prophets, What You Leave Behind), the USS Challenger (Endgame) and the USS Venture (first appeared in Way of the Warrior) which was the modified type as it had the extra phaser arrays mounted on the nacelles. An interesting titbit according to memory alpha - the Venture was the last time a physical model was used to represent the Galaxy class and the subsequent CGI models are missing the extra weapons.
We'll have to go with the real life explanation here - that model didn't exist until Generations. In fact it was modified to represent the Enterprise-B in an effort to prevent damaging the original model during the Nexus strike sequence. They ended up damaging it anyway as the adhesive they used proved to be too strong to allow the parts to be correctly removed. The refit style wasn't seen again until the USS Lakota appeared during DS9.

We saw her as the Stargazer, the Hathaway, Victory and an unnamed ship, the Victory even fought in the Dominion War.
