Suggestions for fleet ships?

The Fleet version of the Gagarin is the Shepard.

The KDF versions are the Qugh and the Fleet Qugh.

OR... The two T6 ships can be had in the Discovery Operations Pack for only 12,000 Zen (If you have the Age of Discovery Starter Pack, you'll get a discount on the OPS Pack: Only 10,500 Zen).

If you're going after the Gagarin, the OPS Pack really is the way to go.
You'll get the two T6 Miracle Worker Battlecruisers, two T6 Light Pilot Escorts (Shran and M'Chla), two Miracle Worker BOffs, a Tardigrade non-combat pet, a Tardigrade combat pet, 10 lockbox keys, a couple of titles, a couple of guns, some XP boosts, 12 inventory slots, some MAJOR Tech Upgrades, and if you're a FED - a scaling T1 Prototype Light Exploration Cruiser with a new skin.

...And the Fleet Ship Module discount on all four T6 ships.

Seriously though, Bridger is right. Anything can be made to work miracles in this game with enough planning and correct gear selection. Pick something you really like the look of and people here will help you pull it into a decent ship.

If you refer to the Icarus Science Pilot Escort, Ajax Class Pilot Escort, Mercury Class Pilot Escort they can crack the 300K in a good run.

Of that, I have no doubt. It's just that I never see them flying around. I often get the feeling that we are the - quote - Red-headed step children - unquote - of the Fleet. I mean, the Science Pilot Escort doesn't even have a Secondary Deflector, and there are no Fleet versions of the Pilot Escorts. But that's not the point. The point is that being in a perceived extreme minority affords me the opportunity to play the victim, and I choose to do so as often as possible. 😁

The thing is, it is after all an Escort and not a Science ship and there is no reason for a Fleet version as those ships are already on Fleet Ship Level.

Problem is, I like lots of ships and often change what I fly depending on how I feel at the time, right now I'm flying the Excelsior, but now I wanna fly the Gagarin, though while I want to do awesome deeps, just happy that things go boom these days hehe

I started with the Herald AP beams. The purple just worked for me. Been AP ever since. Space and ground. It's the anti-meta.

Not in the years I've been playing. Maybe when the Iconian story line first came out? But once the linked phasers came out, everything else fell away.

They were many moons ago as they had an in-built crit severity bonus instead of a proc effect. They did however have a higher skill point investment before the skill trees got revamped for the first time. Those were the days when your skill tree had a section that focused on your ship type (specifically down to the actual variant like the patrol escorts) so you couldn't chop and change as easily as you can now.

Nowadays proc effects don't matter as much (if at all) because they changed the way they trigger and Disruptors/Phasers are highly popular because it's very easy to boost their damage compared to the other types.
