I wonder if anyone here likes Japanese pop? Or am I the only one? XD

My discovery of Jpop is an interesting one. My gate way to Jpop are two albums, either which are Japanese.

The first is by Hikaru Utada, and it's her first English album. In the US, she's known simply as Utada, and her album was titled EXODUS.
The second album was by BoA, a Korean artist, who also releases Japanese and English music. This album was "Girls on Top".

Then, I checked out some of BoA's Japanese releases.

Soon, I discovered Morning Musume, an idol group, then other idol groups in the same agency (Up Front/Hello! Project).

A few years later, I discovered a band called GARNET CROW, and quickly they became my favorite. I fell in love with the vocalist's (Yuri Nakamura) voice (and have had a crush on her since 2010). Now, I own at least one version of all of their singles, and of their studio albums, plus some of their Best Of albums. They disbanded in 2013, but they continue to be my favorite. Sometimes, I can go to sleep listening to Yuri's singing.

There are a few other Japanese musicians I like also.

One of the former members of Morning Musume (Riho Sayashi) has performed a few times with Babymetal. Most of us have been hoping and saying she's their new member. And we started calling her Rihometal. XD

I started with JPop with Two Mix, Zard, Ayumi Hamasaki, Amuro Namuro, and many other groups... but migrated to KPop about 10 years ago.

JPop Idols and group certainly started things, but I think KPop perfected it and made it a science. Probably too much so, as many groups break-up after 7-years and/or lots of tragedy hits in the wake.

I haven't kept up on JPop, but know many KPop groups that promoted in Japan with Japanese releases of their Korean albums.

I briefly got into Kpop, but it never grabbed me as much as Jpop. There are a handful I groups I like, almost all which have disbanded. My big three are SNSD, KARA, and Wonder Girls.

When I returned to Jpop, my tastes changed a bit. I got more into music by YUI, GARNET CROW, Leo Ieiri, Do As Infinity, and others. Those are some of my favorites, but I'll sometimes listen to others like SCANDAL.
