A Star Trek series set in the Mirror Universe, mostly in the Terran Empire. It would be a drastic departure from the "prime" universe, as already know from our brief jaunts there in other areas of Star Trek canon. Political intrigue, schemes and plots abound... with a good dose of backstabbing and "inventive" ways of gaining power and authority.
I guess my question is, would any of you be interested in such a show? If so, where and when in the timeline would you like such a venture to take place in? The early days, following Empress Hoshi or during the Dsicovery/TOS era? Later, during the conflict between the Terran Empire and the Alliance (DS9)?
There is such scope and potential for a show like this, I feel like its been neglected with only a few episodes in a shows history being devoted to it. One in TOS, none in TNG IIRC and a few in DS9 and most recently Discovery.
Thoughts?

Indeed, I think the Mirror Discovery was the most exciting look at the Terran Empire. Previously episodes were confined to the "hero" ship/station like "In a Mirror Darkly" parts 1 & 2 or even the original Mirror Universe episode in TOS. Discovery actually got to explore the wider Terran Empire all the way up to the Emperor, albiet through a character seen in the show previously. The uniforms were very cool too! The decorative gold plating for captains etc, a nice touch I thought.

I definitely can't imagine being interested in any time period besides what we saw in Discovery.
The Enterprise Mirror universe episodes were OK, but in general, mirror universe episodes in the past are all "OOOH Look how dastardly evil our main cast could be" and little beyond that. Discovery actually did some world-building.
I suppose a Mirror Universe series could be interesting, though that would be after we got a Pike show, and I'm still not sure if I care they are making a Section 31 show.

I think, a mirror episode once a while is just perfect.
My opinion is, that we don't need an entire series about the mirror universe, Star Trek should always, even if it is just a bit, have these humanistic and optimistic view of the future, the mirror universe wouldn't realy fit.
The mirror universe is a perfect way to question the way, the Federation acts and their ideals, by showing their influence on a completly different universe, like they did in TOS and the impact of Spocks "better" world in DS9.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.

I have to agree with Tovuk. The occasional episode into the mirror universe and seeing what they're up to is really interesting and the way Disco did it was absolutely fantastic,
However, I feel that after a while, it'd become very stale with the constant backstabbing, killing and general evilness that would be involved.

Mirror Universe is like CBS/Paramount's guilty pleasure to do whatever they want in the Star Trek Universe in one or two episodes without breaking canon too much. Since Gene Roddenberry set the tone for the prime-verse, the Mirror Universe is like a producers playground in the ST-verse. Even Roddenberry had but one Mirror Universe episode in TOS... it seemed to be the trend.

While I really love the idea, this will never ever happen. The political bias the movie industry has just won't allow it.

I don't see the point of a Mirror Universe series, it makes sense to have an episode every now and then, but a full series would be nothing more than an attempt to make spacew Game of Thrones, which I don't think we need. It would also be another Star Trek series being thrown into the mix, I think there are enough on going series at the moment.

Just out of some interest in the matter I did some "research"... Counting Series, Movies, Books and Games... There are at least 10 "Mirror Universes".
The most prominant are:
Halkan-Verse - basicly the intro of "In a Mirror Darkly".
Dark Mirror - Terran Empire formed after Romulans invaded and occupied earth.
Spectre-Verse - Earth and Vulcan form the Empire as a reaction toward the Borg as seen in 2x23 of ENT.
All three of these converged in "Mirror Mirror" and "In a Mirror Darkly", meaning that these events with more or less the same outcome happened in all three universes. After "Mirror Mirror" they split again.
What we see in DS9 is the outcome of the Halkan-Verse where Spock became Emporer and transformed the Empire into the Terran Republic.
What we get in STO is the outcome of the Dark Mirror, where Spock only was a short time emporer before being assassinated.
The Spectre-Verse is afaik books only, where everything went, with a few changes, the same way as in the Halkan-Verse.
To which Mirror the STD episodes count or if it is its own universe - I don't know. Didn't find anything on that.
Also: This is mostly Beta-Lore. DUH!
