There are a few missions that you'll want to keep active and unfinished in your journal. That way you can Transwarp to them, do what you have to do, and quit them. You'll learn which ones are which after a few weeks.

For Terrans (Ground)
• Illusion of Communication

Do not enter the cave. Transport out and run it again if you have to.

For Hur'q ships (Space)
• Home

Only the Chidyat Swarmers count toward your total. Kills by summons count toward your total.

That's just how I do it. I skip TFOs for the most part, other people swear by them.

Yes it does. As for the amount of the bonus, it depends on which stat you're buffing.

There are four levels of percentage bonuses: 0.5%, 1%, 2%, and 4%.
For example:
• Ranged Weapon Damage (Ground) is +4% per perk point spent, for a maximum bonus of +60%.
• Energy Weapon Damage (Space) is +2% per point, max +30%.
• Max Hull is +1% per point, max +15%.
• Critical Chance (Space) is +0.5% per point, max +7.5%.

Some stats increase in raw points, not percentages.
For example:
• Kit Performance (Ground) increases +4 points per perk point spent, with a maximum boost of +60 points.
• Damage Resist (Beta) increases +1 point per perk point, max +15 points.
• Drain Resist (Space) increases +2 points per perk point, max +30 points.
