This was my thought pretty much to.

I enjoyed getting a continued story for Picard but I guess I expected bit more Star Trek than that, and yes Discovery do end up just above Picard, but we still have more seasons to go

1/10...Picard put me off just as badly as Discovery did, mainly because of the very poor writing and the inconsistent pacing. Characters are thrown at you, each with their own bag of drama, which is milked for supposedly dramatic effect throughout the season, then either resolved, or not, because...IDK. The biggest problem with that is that I don't care about any of these characters. I was never given any reason to care! In fact, several of the characters came into the show with me caring about them, but they were so far removed from being the characters that I knew, that I stopped caring about them during this show. The only exceptions are Will and Deanna. They seemed mostly true to character, even though the story about how their son died was forced, and pretty lame. There are times in this show where Deus Ex Machina plot devices are used to move the story along, like the magic wish device used by Rios to fix his ship, or the Romulan back in time replay device, but a child cannot be saved when a cure is known! So Synths are outlawed...I'm sure you can still create a Positronic Test Bed of some sort, without creating a Synth, right? It's like the show allows it's characters to be willfully stupid in one situation, then magical the next! It's not believable!

Star Trek, in the past, has mostly been an aspirational show. Humanity, represented in the Federation, as having risen above the failings we exhibit today. Star Trek showed us what we, as our best selves, are capable of. Picard and Discovery show us that humanity never changes. Hundreds of years into the future, humanity is still corrupt and fallible. Technology evolves...people don't. That's depressing! Star Trek used to tackle our current day issues through interactions with alien races and other worlds. Now, Star Trek is just a mess. I'm familiar with the argument that I'm just looking at past Star Trek through rose colored glasses. For some, that might be true, but I don't believe that to be the case with me. I'm a fan of good storytelling. If you want to represent the Federation in decline, or humanity reverting back to its baser nature, that's fine...just give me a good, believable story to bring me there! You have to explain why established canon for Star Trek is being changed, and show how it got there in a believable way. It has to be well written, or you risk alienating the existing fan base...which is what's happening, at least to some extent.

Understand that this is just my opinion. I appreciate that many of you, probably most of you, enjoy Discovery and Picard, and I'm happy for you! It's one of those consequences of being human...you can't please everyone! I just believe that the writers could do better than what they've given to us so far.

Well, I gave 8/10 but I'm mostly on board with what Morris said.
The higher rating probably comes because TNG is the series I literally grew up with, being "build" in 1984. Which is also why I rate the finale as the lowest of the bunch, even lower than the Freecloud episode... I'am no softie at all, yet just thinking or writing about it makes me cry... F*ck whoever imagined Datas final death... F*ck You good Sir!
Anyway, back to topic...

As I wrote in another post (here & here), the writing is bad... Sometimes beyond bad (see the Freecloud episode).
The only character, besides Picard himself, I really liked is Rios. Raffi is a stereotypical 21st century black woman with stereotypical 21st century black woman problems (in the 25th century), Elnor is probably imagined as a replacement of Datas POV but fails (not the actors fault), Jurati is just a mess and really really unlikeable, Soji give me this...Mary Sue vibe mixed with an unhealthy dose of "Don't trust men.".
And what they did to Seven...and to an extend to Chakotay (I mean what did he do to her that she's "suddenly" a lesbian?).

While I don't like any of these always negative review channels, one thing they said is true:
"You have a bunch of writers who don't care about canon or the universe they write in. They only want to pander their massage to an audience that dosn't care about the IP in the first place!"

Not only for all new Trek but also Star Wars, everything that comes from Marvel and DC (Hello there She-Hulk, New Warriors, Gotham High and the new Batwoman series!) and probably the new Dune Movie... They already not only race swapped a important character, they also gender swapped it.

I enjoyed it. I'm not a hardcore Trekkie and like the darker, more realistic side of things, which is why DS9 is my favorite show (though I grew up with TNG as well).
Especially memorable for me personally was Picard's grumpy return to Starfleet HQ and Riker staring down Oh at the end of the show.

I gave it a 7/10. I think the show has potential, but there were a lot of new characters introduced and not enough character development for most if not all of them. I don't think it was so much the writing as the overall screen time. Disco may only have 2 seasons to Picard's 1, but in terms of episode count it is almost a 3 to 1 ratio, and the older series had around a 3:1 ratio per season over Picard. With Star Trek, it also usually takes a series a season or two to hit its stride and start producing the best episodes, so I'm hopeful that will be the case with both Disco and Picard.
