I have to admit, that I got a good laugh out of reading most comments. What do you think happens next, Moonraker iRL? It sure sound like it...
While yes, there might be plans in the far future to militarise in space...what are todays functions/missions?

- Space superiority
- Space domain awareness (military, civil, and commercial)
- Offensive and defensive space control
- Command and control of space forces and satellite operations
- Space support to operations (e.g. satellite communications)
- Space service support (e.g. spacelift and space range operations for military, civil, and commercial operators)
- Space support to nuclear command, control, communications and nuclear detonation detection
- Missile warning and space support to missile defense operations
- Provide freedom of operation for the United States in, from, and to space
- Provide prompt and sustained space operations
- Protect the interests of the United States in space
- Deter aggression in, from, and to space
- Conduct space operations

While there are many "bad bad words" that trigger a certain crowd, I see way more positive than negative objectives (marked bold).
Did you know that since the retirement of the Space Shuttle Programm and the point where NASA lost the plans to the Saturn 5 Rockets, everything that goes to the ISS is done so by russia?

And speaking of the motherland... Russia has since 1967 its own Space Force which uses since 2015 this embelm:


West Taiwan also has since 2016 its own Space Force, the PLASSF:


Even North Korea has something that resembles that since 1999...

I was in the US Navy back in the days before they wore BDUs. But that's another story. Suffice to say, I get camo. I am also mildly miffed by the condescending tone of your comment.

The question is, WHY is the USSF - an organization that was ostensibly created to work in space - wearing woodland camo? Do they think Endor is a real place? Do they think they'll be going there any time soon? Do they think that maybe they'll be participating in terrestrial combat with the Army or the Marines? They should be building death stars and working toward the development of The Phoenix and the NX-01. Warp drive isn't going to invent itself. Neither are Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XV [CrtH/Dm] [Dmg]x3 [Rapid].

What they should be wearing is all black. Like Section 31. Like Vader. Vader gets it. See, space is black. If you want to hide in space, don't wear forest camo. That's all we're saying. And when I say "we" I - of course - mean THE ENTIRE INTERNET. Well, mainly Twitter.

In summation:
1) It was a poke at the stupidity of the entire USSF idea

But I'm pretty sure they're using the woodland Camo as the USSF is basically a branch off from the USAF which tend to use that camo I believe when they're working on bases within the US. (Don't quote me on that)

Space is going to become an even bigger issue in the future, when reasorces on this planet start to run out. The problem with military space forces (not just American), is that they are military, they protect a countries interest, by deterant or by force. So if multiple nations develop travel to other areas of space, such as astroids with minerals, individual nations will want a part of them, try to claim them for mining.

An international effort to work on space exploration, and mining, would be a much better initiative, but how do you divide the resources if one nation is doing the mining? Or you set up an international space mining group, which then creates a problem with a lack of compertition, which might upset some businesses. There are a lot of problems, and I think having individual nations with military space forces will only make the problems greater. Could divide areas like the Antartic region, but that could mean weaponising space "for defence" to protect these claims.

From everything that I've read and interviews given by those who have championed this, the impetus at the moment is for the security of our assets in orbit. I believe there is some forward thinking for when we develop permanent installations on the moon and possibly Mars, (mining, way-points...), but at the moment, most of the practical applications will be centered around a defense plan for maintaining our satalights during war time.

As I already said here, Russia and West Taiwan atr using the "Starfleet Chevron™" way longer than the Space Force even exists...
And I even think that they didn't "steal" it from Trek but rather from a compass to symbolise that for them as a space agency, there is only one way: "Up"...



As for eveything else:
That big old star is Polaris and the "Band of Stars" probably is a representation of the Milkyway.
That thing orbiting earth is most likely the ISS...

To be fair though, the US one does seem to look more like a Star Trek logo than the others that use a chevron, mostly because of the circular design, and stars. But on the flip side, the Star Trek logos are more likely to be based on United States logos, just as the ranks are based on the US Navy ranks, and the ship abbrivations are USS. So really, I think we've just come full circle on the logo design.
