Captain's, it is time for a Dyson T6... I was playing around with the different vanity shields on the Romulan Dyson Destroyer and I have forgotten how beautifully crafted these ships were, especially the Romulan one. It has been far too long since these ships first came out and I think it is surely time to bring them back into the playing field. My only recommendation is drop the "fused" proton heavy cannon. It would be nice to upgrade it, or remove it, but not fused - however the model is really nice! Of the vanities I have tried, the Section 31 vanity shield is the best looking on it as it really brings out a lot of the lighting features. I put a poll up on the matter.

Hard to say....do I want therm? Yes...but should they? Hard to say since they were never really a good seller. I think they'd need to perhaps be retooled a bit. If they're going to keep the mandatory cannons they need to make the ship 4/2/1+ DHCs for it to have better sales.

And probably should make a Jem'Hadar version...

There probably IS a Dyson T6 coming, as they've been wanting to update the pack. Though, as Sorotia says, it'll probably be a 4 pack that drops.

I'd laugh my ass off if the incoming 4 pack is actually the Dyson T6 pack. Just because it would become like a Destroyer Carrier probably. Or maybe the Jem's grant us the ability to have wingman and that's the addition the Jem's bring to the table for this.

It's hard to say if they'll go down the route of a T6 version.

When these originally dropped, they were supposed to be the next big thing and tied into the storyline - but they never got a big uptake by the players and it seems to be one of the rarest flown ships in the game these days. They effectively got ignored and forgotten about as the storyline went on. These are ships that would need a rethink to spark the interest in them otherwise they'd end up forgotten again.

There's far more demand for the likes of the Nova, Steamrunner and a few others, so Cryptic may well get directed by their corporate powers that be to tap into that first.

Who knows, they were pretty interesting ships at the time as there was nothing like them. But now we've got T6 and Legendary ships is the mere transformation mechanic really all that special?
The S31 destroyer ship has the same mechanic and whilst fun and somewhat useful it'snot really ground breaking and more often than not you have no use of it; staying in either tac or sci mode the whole fight.

Honestly, i'd rather they put effort and resources into making T6 versions of the last few canon vessels we don't have yet so fans can finally enjoy the ships they saw on screen at end game. We've still not got the Nova, Rhode Island, Olympic, Saber, Constellation, Steamrunner, Norway classes yet so not more Cryptic made-up stuff yet please.
Though one beacon of hope it that it looks like there are T6 carriers coming as the recent live-stream showed concept art of newer Atrox and Vo'quv designs, plus a Rom and Jem carrier each.

Dyson content in general is aging at this point. If they were to do a Dyson T6, I'd guess it would be part of a larger effort to remaster that story arc. Given that we are in the Year of Klingon (and legendary ship packs) I'd be surprised if we see anything new here for a while. I'd suspect Romulan content would be next to see a refresh like that first as a lot of that content looks pretty dated like the early Klingon content did until now.

I wouldn't mind seeing one but tbh Dyson ships never seemed to be popular in their day let alone now.
Any dev time assigned to Dyson content could have been given to Year of the Klingon content, so I doubt it'll happen considering the current push to revamp KDF content.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they turned around and made the Dyson ships into a new class, because that would be a) a new thing and b) it would turn the Dyson ships (both T5 who gets it added, and T6 which brings it) into its own thing. Hence me saying Carrier Destroyers.

The flipside is making T5 ships more accessible like how they turned T1 through 4 into dilithium earned ships... not impossible but very grindy. T5 could go that way once enough T6 remakes hit the shelves. They maybe make T5 Fleet cheaper in fleet modules I would predict also. Just my speculation.

If that was ever in planing, they would have done it when they changes T1-T4. Alone the fact that they would have, for the 20 or so unique T5 ships, pull new LvL 5 Mastery skills out of their a** is probably not worth the effort.
There are also, afaik, no unique T1-T4 ships.
Also also: The unique T5 ships is stll a way to milk collectors.

That would then be what, 250.000 or 300.000 (or 32 days to 37 1/2 days for non-fleet/lifetime player for a T5 ship) refined dilithium... Yeah even dumb people wouldn't buy that...

The popularity of the Dyson ships at launch was probably strongly hampered by the absolute incompetence of whoever was responsible for inflicting that terribly ineffective build on us for the mission.

You'd think they would cheat and give us overpowered builds and equipment in missions that promote ships by forcing us to fly them, not give us horrible "how did you get past the D'Deridex with this" builds.

"This new ship is terrible and makes the mission frustrating" is not the proper way to market a new ship.

To me it was never an appealing ship.

Although the vanity shields definitely breathed some new life into it. I was just not on board with the designs itself. I think they would be better suited continuing the lineage of the Series Starships and perhaps some original designs that aren't quite so out there as the Dyson Ships were.
