This thread is for the pre and post discussion of the Season 3 episode "Forget Me Not" - this will be a spoiler filled discussion so if you've found your way past the warnings in the activity stream and the spoiler tag on the thread, this is your last chance to turn back, or at least it will be at the end of this first post. You have been warned!
Having left Earth, Discovery continues its investigation into the Burn and the collapse of the Federation. They head for Trill to seek assistance with the Tal symbiont, whose previous host was Starfleet Admiral Senna Tal, in hopes of accessing their memories to find out where they were heading and perhaps find some remnants of Starfleet.
Some promo shots of the upcoming episode can be found here.
"Forget Me Not" is episode 4 of 13.

I was really hoping they would mention the Dax symbiont somewhere, I think I'm too hopeful of Discovery making references to previous Trek shows.
At least they kept the worm-like appearance of the symbiont. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Still digging Burnham's long hair, also the crew appear to slowly be having a mental breakdown which is promising, didn't see that happen in Voyager!
I did think briefly about what situation is worse, being 70,000 light years from federation space or being 930 years in the future and I think the latter takes the cake.

I felt links where there to see maybe not in symbiont name but in what they did especially at the end with what adira can see
without giving to much away
As for the mental breakdown on Discovery and not Voyager had Neelix the ultimate morale officer.

The mental break down is simple, the crew of Voyager had at least a small hope to see their loved ones again, for the Discovery crew that is completely out of the question for them.

Along side all that. this crew went thru the Klingon War, Trip to the Mirror Universe, Back to dealing with the War, Than dealing with the Red Angel signals, and now thrown into the 3188 with no hopes of going back to their former lives and families into a future where their whole lives. aka the Federation in ruins and missing.
It would be stupid if they were all fine with all that tbh..

I cried twice during the episode, ngl. I also really liked how we're seeing the emergence of the Sphere data and I loved Saru's theory that it's trying to reciprocate by helping in the best ways possible. Also, Saru reaching for help doubled my respect for him as a leader. I love the way this show is taking the steps to provide depth to all of its characters. Shades of DS9.

This was a touching episode. kind of ironic what happened to the trill from worrying about not having enough symbiotes and keeping true compatibility numbers secret to avoid civil strive to not having enough hosts in a blink of an eye is crushing. Smart for Saru to send Burnham with Adira, out of the entire crew she's the only one used to the new ways having been in the future for a year and everyone else having their own burdens to deal with, and I doubt Georgiou would have had her phaser set to stun.
Culber has become one of my favorite characters, so glad he was brought back in season 2.

I was starting to think Season 2's mcguffin was completely forgotten, so nice to see the sphere data resurface. The crew mood swing after the last episode ending with cheery Earth shore leave was a bit odd, but it was ok. The main story thread was interesting overall. Will be interesting when we finally see the Federation of this time period since it looks like they finally connect next week.

So far the best episode in Season 3. I thought they were just going to leave the elephant in the room, I'm glad they addressed that matter this early. It also looks like we're going to see more of this in this season, how "humanity" copes with being disconnected for almost a thousand years from the lives they've known. Something I'm wondering always whenever I consider the possibility that one day I'll jump into the future -- how would I handle it? It's one thing to address it logically, it is totally another emotionally.
I can't wait for the next episode. The teaser already got me curious, seems like they'll be tested first.

I liked the jumping fish that suddenly stayed airborne and flew somewhere. Nice to see and learn more about Trill, because my main character is a Trill. I can't understand why they don't have enough viable hosts. I mean it looks like they're not starving on Trill, so why not just reproduce a lot to accommodate the symbionts?
Character and crew development is going in a good direction, I liked Dr. Culber here a lot.
Also nice seeing finally connection points with Calypso. Let's see what the V'draysh (I explicitly say not Federation) is going to be like, since it lost its original point of existence (Earth) and its living memory (Trill symbionts). I wouldn't be surprised if they are resembling the Cardassian Union partly before admitting defeat to the Bajorans. Remember they too were once rather peaceful people until the scarcity of resources followed by disease made them turn to the Military leadership to overcome their suffering. I guess a Captain Ransom from the Equinox would understand if they too say they were left with no choice after the Burn.
