I would say for me this is the weakest episode so far I liked it but felt it was lacking over the previous episodes.

A theory doing the rounds is that the detached nacelles are a response to the burn - that each one contains a separate warp core (and there's now no core in the ship itself) and if it happens again, the entire ship won't be destroyed. Guess we'll find out as it's not explained at all how they work or stay with the ship.
Also there's a poster out that shows the Voyager-J and it also features the detached design.

I like the upgraded look. and the fact that they changed the registry to -A. with the amount of tech change. makes sense
but does this mean there has not been another USS Discovery in 930 years?

All those times we thought Cryptic was giving us broken ships when the nacelles didn't connect to the ship model and we thought it was a "bug". Turns out it was an Easter egg way ahead of its time.
That said, it was kind of fun watching the Disco crew get used to its shiny new toys, but by the same token it was a bit worrisome to see Burnham slipping back into being a pariah similar to the start of Season 1 for the black box. Not that I particularly like Burnham's character, but more that they already played that "fall and redemption" story arc once. Otherwise, it seemed to be a slower episode all in all from a plot progression standpoint. Discovery got a 32nd century "pimp my ride" treatment, we got a little bit of character progression for Adira and Georgiou, and we got a junkyard prison break from villains already seen this season that began to progress the Burn plotline a little bit. It looks like next week will reintroduce the Vulcans, so hopefully we'll start to see things progress a bit more quickly again next week.

but does this mean there has not been another USS Discovery in 930 years?
There's a reference to a USS Discovery during the early days of TNG, though I don't think it's mentioned in dialogue and just appears on an Okudagram. It would seem that they've leaned on the assumed lore slightly and the letter is attached to the registry itself rather than the actual name. That more or less makes sense however since multiple ships of different registries have had the same name, like the Prometheus, Intrepid and Farragut.
In terms of hard canon, there's now a total of 4 ships that retained their registry:
Enterprise - NCC-1701-E
Relativity - NCV-474439-G
Voyager - NCC-74656-J
Discovery - NCC-1031-A
The Defiant wasn't the first ship to bear the name and was supposed to have picked up the A suffix when it was replaced by the Sao Paulo, but as they didn't redo the graphics for the final episode exterior scenes, effectively it didn't count unless that gets retconned somewhere down the line.

From the previous episode ("Die Trying"), USS Tikhov also retained her registry (NCC-1067-M); it was shown on the screen Tilly had up while she was talking to Burnham. MA has the info: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/USS_Tikhov
As for the -A on Discovery, there's a theory on another Trek fan group I'm a member of that Starfleet added the letter to the registry to hide the fact that they had a clear violation of the Temporal Accords so they could take advantage of the spore drive, and all the cosmetic changes give ample cover, to make it look as though they resurrected another long-standing name as they had with the other names (Voyager, Enterprise, etc).

Good theory but Discovery was refitted enough by 31st century Federation to warrant a "A" anyway, like Mertyol posted above, this is how it looks now;
So pretty significant to put 'A' next to it.
---
I also don't understand this programmable matter tech on ships now which allows for essentially "Floating Pylons" with 31st century ship designs, but oh well. It's the future alright.

I'm not saying it's the sole reason, just a significant motivator along with all the cosmetic and practical chances made in the upgrades. From a historical perspective (sorry my US History minor is going to show here): Traditionally, an HCN doesn't change even if you refit a ship into a new class. Obviously, Starfleet may go a different way in terms of the lettering, but historically the complete designation is part of the HCN. It's scifi, Starfleet's gonna Starfleet.
I always held it as head canon that the only ship to receive the lettering honor was Enterprise because of her legendary exploits. Previously, Starfleet had renumbered the other ships of fame from the Constitution-class that had also survived their five year missions. And I could definitely see Voyager getting that honor as she was the first ship to survive being flung 70kly from home and returned mostly safe.
I also don't understand this programmable matter tech on ships now which allows for essentially "Floating Pylons" with 31st century ship designs, but oh well. It's the future alright.
I'm assuming that the matter is still present, but it's transparent somehow? I don't quite get it, either. I'm curious to talk to Thomas Marrone about it very soon on stream, because his opinion on starship design famously flies contrary to what we're seeing in the 32nd century.
