Well I guess it’s now been retretconned with Discovery then.
Every Trek show and film has changed something from the previous stories.
Adding a moon in is hardly destroying the franchise. It looked nice on screen; the same reason the art guys added it to painted backdrops in the past.

Possible Space:1999 / Discovery crossover? Earth's moon left orbit in an alternate universe in the year 1999 and after hitting hyperspace, ended up crossing the dimension barrier and eventually settles into orbit around Vulcan.

I did like this episode. My only issues are
1. Very emotional, to the point it felt a bit corny. Seemed like every other scene had somebody crying or look like they were about to.
2. Tilly as the new XO. While I do like Tilly, it seems to me there were some far better choices onboard the Discovery. Stamets for one.
Other than those two. I did enjoy the episode. I'm happy to see the Romulan and Vulcan people are united again (Or at least as united as we've ever seen them.) and that Spock's efforts were not for nothing. I also enjoyed the twist of the Romulans being more open to the Federation than the Vulcans, would have been really easy for the writers to go the opposite way but IMO they did it well.
I'm also looking forward to seeing more about the cause of the Burn. Would be nice if we got some explanation as to why Ni'Var believes they were the cause, I know the experiment they were conducting was mentioned but I'd like to believe there's more to it than that.

Nice nod to Anton Yelchin. I like the idea of a small set, low budget, self-contained episode. Unfortunately, I don't think that they pulled it off, with this episode.
Tilly being offered temporary first officer...nope. If I were the Admiral, I'd be questioning Saru's judgement as Captain. Anyone...ANYONE ELSE from the current bridge crew is more qualified...and deserving of that position!
Mother Burnham showing up as a member of the Qowat Milat...nope. One, she was from a timeline where Control triumphed...maybe her last jump pulled her back to the corrected timeline, but even if that's the case, how did she get from Terralysium to Ni'Var, considering the state of the universe at that point? Glossing over all of that, just how long is the initiation process to the Qowat Milat, and why would she want to join up anyway? It seems to me that this is just another example of the writers shoehorning in a character, just because they think, wouldn't it be cool if Michael was represented by her mother!
The nearly 1,000 years advanced people and technology, as represented in this show, are incapable of determining the cause of The Burn over a 100 year period of time, but Discovery shows up, and within a month or so, they're on the road to figuring this thing out! Nope. I think that it's silly that the Federation is so completely dismembered. To just say that it happened, and to give nothing more than superficial reasons why, is dissatisfying at best, and disingenuous to us as fans at it's worst! We deserve a better explanation...a better story! If The Burn had happened recently, then this story would make a little more sense, but taking 100 years to just lick your wounds and feel sorry for yourselves, doesn't make sense, considering the Federation that we know from previous incarnations of Star Trek.
I really don't like how the writers have addressed Burnham's Mary Sue-ness by having everyone call her out on it, because that's meaningless when Burnham turns around and is the still the Mary Sue anyway! Like I've said before, if she's going to be the central character of the show, she should be the Captain, or be cruising around the galaxy on her own...or with Book, having her own adventures that may, or may not have a greater effect on the galaxy as a whole.
I really didn't like how the people of Ni'Var were represented. It was overly simple, and frankly stereotypical with the racial stereotypes. There was no meaningful dialogue during this part of the show. The Romulan, The Vulcan, and The Romulan/ Vulcan Hybrid each just gave their stereotypical race/ party line response, without much intellectual curiosity from any of them.
This was a story progression episode...get from point A to point B, so we can keep moving the story along. It was uninspired, and a step back from some of the previous episodes of this season. It was dressed up as a character building episode for some of the side characters, but this also seemed overtly superficial to me. Earlier episodes from this season did much better. I hope that this was an anomaly, and that future episodes will pick back up...we'll see!

Hehehe, the Discovery crew Solving the Burn while the hyper advanced Starfleet of the future couldnt kinda gives me vibes of the Asgard from stargate relying on the Tau'Ri to figure out how to fight replicators.

They stated that she did not return to Terralysium. she appeared at Essof IV. which was a colony in 32nd century but back than it was an abandoned Vulcan science station.

I like the overall intent of the episode, but given how much emotion Kirsten Breyer tried to pack into a single episode, I kind of wish they would have allowed her to do a two-parter treatment and given us Unification III/IV. I feel it would have served us much better to get to know Ni'Var versus what we have known about Vulcan and Romulus in the previous incarnations, especially after the events of Star Trek: Picard.
Previous to watching this episode, one of my friends let it slip that Tilly was the new XO, and I did begin my watch negatively predisposed based on this information. However, seeing the events unfold as they did, and the support and buy-in of the wardroom in that scene sold me on the idea. Given that Starfleet cannot risk Discovery's origin from the distant past to be known (irrespective of Ni'Var's knowledge now), it does place the ship is an isolated status within the fleet... they really had no choice but to promote from within, even in an acting capacity. The offer from Saru was made out of respect for her growth, and while it's wildly out of the ordinary with what we know about Starfleet's paramilitary chain of command and rank structure, I think in light of the show's decision to make the extraordinary leap into the 32nd century, there's going to be some significant changes to "the cost of doing business."
In spite of the above, the entire episode put me through the emotional wringer. I teared up quite a bit at seeing the revelation that Spock was responsible for getting reunification up and running (off Michael's reaction), the playback of Spock (in the caves of Romulus, which I assume was pulled from Picard's golem at some point to get such clarity), the reveal of Gabrielle Burnham as Michael's advocate, and Michael's realization of where she belongs... it was all pretty well-written by Breyer, who is probably more well-known for her tie-in and original Star Trek: Voyager novels than she is for her contributions to Discovery (and Picard). Again, I wish she had been given more time to tell the story, because it all felt a bit too contrived by the last 10 minutes.
Lastly, I loved Saru's handling of the situation at Ni'Var... they really made the right choice in making him the new Captain.

One thing I’ll always love is that cool funky alarm sound they get when going to black alert. 😎
I do wonder though, isn’t Book’s ship kind of getting in the way a bit by taking up the entire shuttle bay! Lol.
