so just watched it it was ok it was a little to much grunting during he battles which made me laugh , but I liked how it it basically introduced a new beginning. I liked the way Adera looked and grey being seen by others was cool I didnt think that book would have that strong of an ability to do what he did but it was cool at least now they have to instead of one.
oh I liked the end original theme music also I guess in allot of ways Burnam is a fare amount like Kirk James T which I am sure is why the original theme was at the end

It felt like a series finale.
I enjoyed the episode, for the most part. Though I'm not fond of how they handled the whole Burn storyline, I think that they ended it in the most Star Trek way that they could. I don't buy a holodeck being able to see and manifest a personality from a Trill symbiote, but whatever. Burnham did come across as a James T. Kirk type, and I liked how the season wrapped things up. It does feel like a series finale though.

It felt like a series finale.
It kind of did, didn't it? Were it not for the fact that we know they're filming Season 4 right now in Canada, I would think that the series is over, but CBS renewed them to a fourth and fifth season in early 2020.
That being said, the explanation of the Burn was fine; TNG and VOY had some pretty wildly resolved episodes too, so I absolutely agree this was a very Trek-like resolution. I loved the character interactions most of all and the little tidbits of characterization, for example, Owo's brief explanation of her swimming talents. Also, her "I love you all" brought me to tears (the sheer acting talent on this show is incredible).
I'm also glad we got to see the 32nd Century Starfleet engage in combat for purely selfish reasons, because now Thomas, Jette, Jeremy, and company now have awesome source material upon which to base the upcoming 32nd Century ships that are surely coming down the pipe.
My complaints about the episode are:
- Why does Discovery have such a spacious interior?! Holy crap, it looked like the interior of a Dyson Sphere in there.
- What the hell was Burnham pushed into? Why is something so dangerous without some kind of barrier to prevent someone from falling in?
- The long shot at the warp core looked like it was housed inside a Starbase and fell through that shunt on the Death Star before it found it's way outside.
I could go on, but those are the top three things that really bugged the crap out of me.
I don't buy a holodeck being able to see and manifest a personality from a Trill symbiote, but whatever.
I sense this is opening a big door for S4, possibly. I suspect there's something else going on here that's contributing to this atypical Trill symbiotic relationship? He mentioned the other hosts having the same trouble, so I feel like the writers are going to explore this with Adira, Paul, and Hugh moving forward. Also, I love that new erstwhile family unit that formed and I'm eager to see that grow in the future.

I'm curious to see what happens next season, what happens to the chain, will we go to other quadrants, will we see the enterprise? And finally the crew gets new uniforms.

It definitely felt like an odd ending for the season given the much bigger cliffhangers the first 2 seasons of Disco ended on. While it was nice to see the crew get wardrobe updates, I found it curious that they only gave any kind of rank identifiers to Burnham. If they were going to drop that new twist, why not do it properly? The action scenes on Disco this episode definitely hearkened back to a Kirk feel, particularly the JJ version with the massive open spaces inside the ship.
Otherwise, while I'm still underwhelmed by the Burn arc resolution, it was a good episode overall and a good ending to a mostly solid season.

From what we've seen of them, the 32nd Century uniforms have rank bars on the front of the neck, though Captain and above seem to have the additional insignia on the shoulders, with the Admiral variant having them along rather than dropping down from the shoulder.

I'm not too big of a fan of the new uniforms. Being something of a heraldry aficionado, I actually dislike the captain's uniform having like four rank insignias on it; it's unseemly for what's supposed to not be a military. But you might recall that the default rank insignia is on the badge, ala Future Imperfect. It's just that it's low visibility given the the metal on metal finish.
It's way more visible in the opening sequence, but on screen it does not pop as well as the TNG rank insignia does. For me, rank insignia needs to be easily seen and easily identified and as unambiguous as possible. But, this is TV and not RL.

I think the feel on the series ending was intentional meaning the ending of the old ways and a new beginning like the Star trek original I am hoping it is more like that because the way there where writing the stories and trying to please everyone wasn't working for me because the story line seem all over the place then rushed then all over the place almost like they were making it up with a bunch of different writing putting things in like this would be cool lets put it in then that would be cool lets put that in going in a small circle and everyone adds in something to the story with out really thinking the whole fight scene with Burnam I thought was really stupid . if I as fighting someone to the death I would be using everything to my advantage like her leg I would have been constantly using her injury against her and she would have been done very quickly and with out all of the over exaggerated grunting lol

From what I saw everyone had identical non-pipped collar insignias except Burnham. I know they added the pips to the badges too, but they just don't show very well on camera. Plus it seems...awkward...to stare down at everyone's chest long enough to figure out how many little dots are on the little mostly nondescript badge. There is no shortage of space on those collar insignias so maybe they might reconsider as they hit season 4 with a fresh budget and maybe a lesser need to bombard us with new starship eye candy like they did introducing us to the 32nd century this year. The sheer volume of CGI this year had to hit the bottom line pretty hard after all.

I thought the episode was good, I liked what they did and how they did it, I did call it with Burnham 2 episodes ago.
So I eventually got to watch this last night, I enjoyed this episode but despite that and finding the cause of the burn it felt like a filler episode in some ways.
I feel that we will see something more on the kid and the cause of the burn what they have shown so far and while I disagree with everyone on the Tilly thing but I feel what the intention here is that they will let Burnham save the day and this will see her return to a role of seniority in some way.
Forgot to add the best thing for me in this episode was seeing Doug Jones as himself for once.
Didn't think it would be Captain though I hope this is not the end of Saru.
I hope we see a fair bit more of Vance next season I like his role and the way Fehr plays him.

I'm curious about the future of the spore drive, now that we know the Kwejiani can use it without needing tardigrade DNA makes me think there will be some conflict in the future.

Doug Jones will be back for S4, he said in an interview a little while back about having to shave his head again for the role, but I'd guess we'll see Saru given another ship or perhaps appointed as some type of Starfleet liaison or maybe Ambassador to his homeworld.
Agreed on Vance, Fehr has got the character right up there with Ross as the most convincing Admiral seen in the franchise.

Yeah actually know you mention it I do remember seeing him on a Twitter link to something saying this also.
He deserves to have a role I think he been brilliant again this season and when he got into human form for the last 2 episodes I think he took it to another level.
Guess this answers that also
