the following is a post in Discord "STO DPS Channels" regarding upcoming changes to the in-game DPS channels:
Over the next week or so, I am planning to make some changes to the channel structure and some upload requirements.
- DPS Elites will take over the spot Prime currently resides in. Elites will be cleared and you will need to re-qualify.
So DPS Elites will be: 300k DPS in ISE or HSE
- The current Prime channel will be abandoned and remade. The owner of the channels hasn't played in several years, and there is only one admin. This makes it hard to bring in new mods or do proper maintenance.
- The new channel will be named "DPS-#s-Prime"
- Elites will be scrapped to follow the same naming scheme. "DPS-#s-Elites"
- "#s' Represents these channels being part of the Numbers league. A very old nickname for this league, given we used to have several channels that were just numbers, like DPS-10,000.
- Prime will have drastically higher entry requirements. Will be manual invites with inspection and verification of parses before invite is sent. No trimmed parses for ISE will be allowed. Currently, we are looking at 1m in ISE or HSE, or 600k in ISA. Feedback on Prime changes are limited to current Prime members

This one wont affect us in anyway essentially what they doing is making a room for the nanny runners who get over 1m DPS and changes the DPS channels in game but wont change what we put up in the fleet DPS League.

So they want prime to be an exclusive channel for extreme torp builders who make nanny runs...excluding the nannies and tanks that make said nanny runs possible unless they also do the extreme torp nanny runs. Nobody pulls those kinds of numbers without nanny support.
What exactly is the point of this proposed Prime channel anyway? I'm not sure this was really thought out.... Most people just spam the higher tier channels for dps runs and nothing else anyway.

I suspect it's because DPS records are getting so ludicrous these days they need to add another tier in to separate the top 0.1%.
Barely anyone is getting those numbers without some serious fudging of the runs they are making so tbh I don't think it matters to 99.99999% of the players who even pay attention to DPS anyway.

Adding a "tier" is fine if these 1M+ people really think they need to earn another gold star from teacher. Whatever. My point is that it seems to be only a very small subset of players that feel the need to create such extreme min/maxed builds and gather nanny runners to further artificially inflate their builds to several times their "typical" performance if they did a PUG run like most people do.
Given that we may be only talking about tens of players out there at most and at any given time only a subset of that population may be currently online, what good is a chat channel? Particularly since they wouldn't be there without their tank and nannies foregoing any serious attempt at DPS themselves to help enable their exaggerated parses. Unless those nannies and tanks also build an extreme build and get others to nanny their own dps runs, they are cut off from those they made elitists in the first place. Basically you end up with a channel to brag to a handful of other narcissists like yourself on, but still need to dip into lower tier channels to actually put together new runs and stuff, which tends to be the main use case of higher tier dps channels in the first place.

I think you hit the nail on the head here.
It's another means to brag really and have an "elite within the elites" for people to feel smug about themselves.
Honestly I've no issues with people doing massive DPS or nanny runs etc, but slipping off into private places to make yourself seem like gods among us mere peasants is a bit naff I think.
Thankfully within UFP at least everyone plays together regardless of ability or ranking; it's far more enjoyable that way and as a community we benefit more from it.

Thankfully within UFP at least everyone plays together regardless of ability or ranking; it's far more enjoyable that way and as a community we benefit more from it.
And it plans to stay that way. We have some decent and heavy hitting DPS members in the fleet and some who if not for the nanny runs would probably be in the top 10/20, most if not all are more than happy to help others if they need it and they do not sit on an elitist throne thinking they can lord it over others. The spec ops team is a good one and are more than happy to be as inclusive as possible. Its becoming more and more regular that some low hitters are joining in the runs in elite runs and this allows them to see how its done in the elite runs and earn the marks and elite marks that they need for gear in game. I feel the current team offers a good balance for everyone whether you are chasing the parse or just wanting to join for fun.
For myself wanting a decent DPS comes from the old days of bad PUG Runs when you could end in a run and end up with a badly organized or geared team hitting a reasonable DPS allows for me to more or less be able to carry the team if i have to.For myself its both space and ground i do this on and feel its more essential for ground runs given that you are most likely to join r a Khitomer Ground run where someone has no idea what they have to do or have the right gear for it i had a run exactly like this last night and today both was challenging for different reasons but we managed to complete it on both occasions with some instructions from myself while i did the control room.

"Used to have"? Given they launched a coup in an attempt to seize control of those channels, those were never their channels in the first place.
All because their nanny-runs were being disallowed and their egos were tied to their epeens. It's funny that apparently the current leadership needs to essentially do it again to have control of the channels.

Looks like new changes are out again, undoing some of the extreme nannied entry requirements.
the following changes will be coming over the next week to reduce the current channel lineup from 7 to 4 total channels.
DPS-Public retired
DPS-G-200 and DPS-G-800 both retired and merged into a new DPS-#s-Ground with a 1k entry requirement via either NTTE or BHE.
DPS-75,000 retired
DPS-#s-Elites lowered back down to 150k as the entry method via ISE/HSE
- This will basically be merging 75k into Elites
- I will be eliminating the Elites role on Discord
DPS-#s-Prime lowered down to 600k ISA/ISE/HSE
With Prime, I came back into the DPS scene last year with an impression that it was more active than I thought. As such I made a mistake by making the entry methods too hard to attain. Some took the challenge and went for it, but overall, the changes resulted in a dead channel.
I am backing out of those changes and making it easier to get into Prime. I figure 600k is a good starting point, and it can be lowered further if desired.
------
In addition, I am looking to reshape prime into a public environment for high end Supported/Nanny/Coordinated runs. For those of you that like supporting others or tanking, this will hopefully get you into an environment where you can utilize those playstyles more.
This will result in me adding a section to the discord for Builds / Tactics / Run Coordination for those wanting to get involved in that environment. Will also be a voice section exclusive to Prime members for running those types of runs.
I'm not sure how much engagement this will see, but I am trying to open the space up a bit more as right now the average DPS player has no hope of competing anywhere near the top of the table given the current state of those high end runs and how limiting a traditional channel run can be.

Looks like the requirements for the Prime channel were lowered again yesterday. Now they are taking anyone who has a 500k parse or higher.
