Okay, wow.....so I kind of have been busy in the last three days, and totally missed all of this. Here are just some of my thoughts.
Silynn, you're an excellent writer, and I'll be sad to see you go, if that is your ultimate choice. I would encourage you to stay, and work from within to help improve the story. However, you're an adult, I'm presuming, and you have the ultimate authority over what you choose to do with your free time and your talent. I'm just saying that it would be helpful and worthwhile to people here if you stay, and more than that, perhaps become involved with the leadership so you can help steer the project where it needs to be.
I'd like to share if I could some of my personal perspective on Ares and roleplaying in general with everyone.
I've been in and out of text based roleplaying like this since around the mid to late 90's. I'd describe my writing style as competent. It's in the middle, or probably lower middle. I can string sentences and ideas together, but I am by no means close to cranking out a novel. Roleplaying, I've seen people who blow me out of the water, and people who seem like they could barely string a sentence together. But I've had to work with all of them, because the very nature of most of these roleplaying projects is that they accept a variety of people, even people from different countries where English isnt their first language. I remember one person from my experiences back in the day who was just the sweetest woman, but she couldnt spell three out of every five words right! But hey, she was doing her best. She wanted to participate, and since we were in sort of an open forum roleplay, she was allowed to and we all embraced her. Most of us. And I dont know what country she was from, what her education level was, or what her home life was like. I do know for a few hours she had some fun. We're all here trying to have fun, and many of us are trying to improve. Some of us have ideas that are more bizarre than others. But we kind of give and take, and try to make the experience good for everyone.
It seems like Ares has always played fast and loose, since I've been here. Odd promotions, subtractions, and explanations to cover departures of roleplayers. It may not always gel well, but that seems to be the nature of the beast. Not that the nature cant be changed. But I try my best to roll with the punches, do what works best for my character and accommodate the experiences of others.
In this particular chapter, since it was an Interlude, my understanding was that we were all going to do our on thing, because it was a gap between chapters. I was under the impression that we all didnt really have to participate at all. Which is why you really see Biiqs pop up here and there, and he wasnt even present for most of the story. As far as the Storm Family stuff at the end, I just figured that was some joint rping that everyone seemed to be satisfied with. And I didnt really mind it, because we had the freedom to do what we wanted RP wise, until the next chapter. I could have undestood that wrong, but that was my understanding.
I'm probably rambling now, so if you're looking for me to come to a point, I'm not. *LOL* I guess allI can say is, we really have two choices, either try to work with each other a little more and be tolerant of each other, or find other places to use our talents. I prefer we all choose the former, but really, the latter is inevitable, because we're not going to do this for the rest of our lives. But while we're together, lets have a little fun, help each other out, and maybe inspire others to do what is a pretty difficult task - laying our skills and lack of skill out in public for others to enjoy or hate.
