Could we possibly be seeing a lurch back towards the franchise fatigue of the late 90's/early 2000's with all these shows ongoing?

I'm leaning towards no right now, mostly as each show is doing something fundamentally different to each other. Compared to TNG, ds9 and voyager which were quite similar

There's enough of a difference between the shows to let each exist at its own pace and within its own setting. We've got a kids cartoon, the adult comedy cartoon, far future, expanding on the TOS period.

I think what'll kill things more than anything else is viewer figures dropping as a result of the shows being locked behind too many different paywalls. You've already got to have Netflix and Amazon to watch the older series, and some new series. Then they hid DSC away on their own silly streaming service and 90% of the world can't even access it at all.
If they continue pushing for people to get more and more subscriptions then I think eventually people will just lose interest in a franchise; it'll become too expensive and inconvenient to keep up.

That is the one main problem and I do agree, so many different services are all vying for our cash these days, and with the cost of living increasing, it's leading us to have to be very picky.

It wouldn't be so bad if they released P+ worldwide and put all their shows on it, as then it's all together, but yeah, it's not the best split up with a lot of folk unable to watch.

That will happen and guess how many people are interested and looking forward to get another Streaming Service.

I can only answer that for me and I will not sub to another streaming service (I already have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+). That being said the only Trek show I regularly watch reruns of is DS9 and I have the DVDs for that.

But I bet I'm not the only one annoyed by service exclusivity.

I have Amazon Prime and Netflix the rest get acquired with a different method but I am playing with the idea to get rid of Netflix.

I got one will not sub to P+.

We already have Amazon, Netflix and Disney+ for all the Marvel & SW goodies. Adding another one on to it’s just too much cost and too many bloody apps needed to access it all.

I believe Paramount+ is going to be included with my SkyQ subscription - I also get Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV through that so I think I'm covered. If that's changed I will not be subscribing separately.

It's extremely unlikely I'll be subbing to another streaming service. While I do have Sky, I know it's only included for free if you have the cinema package, which we don't (that's what Netflix et al was for) and while you can sub to it separately via Sky from what I know, with the cost of everything going up I'd rather not.

Stateside all of the Star Trek Series are on P+. Since the only real reason I kept Netflix was to be able to stream the series. I killed my subscription to it and just decided P+ was going to be my source of all Trek from here on out. You also get the movies with it as well.

DIsney Plus comes with my Verizon Service. But for those that don't have that option and already have multiple subscriptions. I agree it's a pain, and when the big cable companies started losing money, due to cord cutters; that's when you started seeing these shenanigans come into play. Sadly, it's no longer cheaper to cut the cord, because of all the subscriptions you have to buy; just to watch one or two shows on each.

Those franchise fatigue vibes be growing... there will be so much Trek, that it will become stale even with the approach of different styles to each show. I just think there will be too much going on that they don't really focus on getting one thing right, it is just Star Trek spam to make as much noise as possible as quick as possible, get people on their streaming service and done.

I don't really see how the franchise fatigue of the 90s could compare to this - there will be more Star Trek shows running concurrently than there have ever been in the entirety of it's better part of 60 year run. I just don't agree with the voracious nature of the milking of the IP that is going on - it feels like they are trying to drain the IP for all it's worth for a few years before the modern world gets bored and moves on 🙁

Not a fan personally, and definitely won't be subscribing to P+. Will hold overall judgement for when it's out, but I have a bad feeling about this.

My thing is I'd rather see a SFA series in the Picard Era vs the Disco future Era. I wish they would give the TNG era more attention.

It would also be a good way to work STO into canon as well. Which would honestly make me pretty happy.
