I started a new gamma recruit and bought the pack directly after. I still have some zen remaining after the purchase and got myself a nice trait as well as another new ship to use.

The Boff has awesome traits for both space and ground and would be perfect for any non-romulan char that cannot access the Romulan boffs. The ship is ok but the Pilot specialization is meh for me, my big issue with this is the only place STO has mentioned that it is not an account unlock is in their ten forward weekly stream.

I just meant the Jem Hadar ship that came with the package. I do need more science consoles, but I"ll likely wait for a better sale or save my remaining zen for the next big bundle that helps.

Seems like the fanbase is pretty universally upset about the boff (and lesser extent the weapon) being character-locked. The Polaron Quad Cannons are also currently not upgradable, but most likely that's a bug. The ship itself is actually pretty nice though. Granted, Pilot boff powers are pretty much rubbish all around (hopefully it will be next on the list to be revisited and reworked), but it is a pilot/tac seat so it is easy enough to just ignore the specialist option on the seat.

That said, the ship itself is pretty fun to fly. It is really nimble and fast even without the pilot maneuvers mechanic, it has the wingman mechanic (which is admittedly a bit odd because your ship looks like a pet to your larger wingmen ships), and you get uptime extension traits to several different firing modes from the 2 traits the ship carries. The Vanguard Specialists trait got reworked to increase uptime of all the firing modes along with the cooldowns, so most of them give you 100% uptime now. The recently reworked Surgical Strikes power is the one getting most of the buzz since it brings it roughly on par with Beam Overload builds (and works with mixed beam/cannon builds if you want), but there was also a lesser advertised reworking of the Recursive Shearing abilities with the last patch to make them a DOT tick instead of a big delayed hit. That change coupled with doubled uptime from Vanguard Specialists has made an already pretty strong power stronger. I suspect this one will end up on the meta-chasers recommended shopping lists going forward. I don't think I'd recommend the bundle at full price, but it honestly is a decent one while it is on this half-price sale.

It's a decent ship and all...but so much wrong with this pack. Wake me when there is a legendary dreadnought carrier...
