I just remembered that Sisko's attack ship was also damaged pretty well by the USS Centaur in the previous episode, "A Time to Stand". Considering that, a much larger (and most likely more powerful) ship like a Galaxy should have no problem dealing with a bugship.

Why are you applying updates made to the Galaxy Class during the Dominion War to the Enterprise-D when she was long gone at that point, the Enterprise-D was at the same level as the Odyssey when she got destroyed.

If we take your third point on your 1st post

3.) Chief O'Brien is on board Sisko's ship and is not only a genius engineer but is also very familiar with the Systems of a Galaxy Class ships and their weaknesses.

And we assume that this is also a time or time loop when O'brian would also be on the D with Geordi and not a time when they had to stay and sacrifice themselves I see the enterprise retreating initially to avoid the problem they faced of the Phased Polarons initially meaning on return confrontation they would have superiority in those terms then, Sisko would not be Jem'Hadar like and fly into the D to gain the winning hand either I don't think. Yes O'brian could attempt to bypass systems remotely but the issue here is Data and the speed at which he could counteract any attempt to run a bypass, if it was a USS Odyssey scenario where they could not run to reevaluate then I agree they are doomed but 1v1 that's not going to happen.

That's what I was figuring, in its heyday or else some of these match ups would be questionable. Like for the Excelsior vs Bozeman for example, we know a Excelsior class can be upgraded enough to go toe to toe with a Defiant...a modern upgraded Excelsior would eat the Bozeman for breakfast with ease

If I may refer to your first point. That's something I always had a doubt about. When the Defiant engaged the dominion fleet to save Odo and Garak (The Die is cast Season 3) The Defiant shields were working, which suggests Starfleet may have adapted their shields a lot quicker than we thought.

Maybe we need some sort of scenario ground rules going forward on these. In this case, the Enterprise-D had been lost for a few years before Sisko's team even captured their attack ship, so we're all speculating here on whether Starfleet had made any progress on combatting Dominion tech between the loss of the Odyssey in 2370 and the loss of the Enterprise-D in 2371 (or whether the D crew could have improvised their own plot armor). We also have the quirk here that both O'Brien and Worf had served under both Picard and Sisko, which raises questions of could insider knowledge have been exploited.

Since the Odyssey keeps getting mentioned, it might be worth noting that it was not just one but 3 Jem'Hadar ships that took it out, and the Odyssey had unloaded all "non-essential" personnel at DS9 so it could have been underperforming in the engagement. While the Odyssey did have a few of DS9's runabouts supporting it, the runabouts were hardly depicted as being amazing combat vessels anywhere near the equal of the Jem'Hadar ships, and the runabouts were largely ignored by the Jem'Hadar in that engagement in favor of tackling the Odyssey. Thus, we don't necessarily have a good example of a 1-on-1 matchup between ship types there. The Jem'Hadar's ships (and presumably by extension Sisko's ship) might have been able to bypass the shields in this matchup still, but we don't know if 1 ship would have had the firepower to take down a Galaxy-class on its own, whether the Odyssey may have handicapped itself by offloading personnel that could have been helping with damage control or other countermeasures, or whether or not there may be some sort of equalizer element in the battlefield like nebulae, gas giants, or the like that have been shown in countless shows and movies to negate or level out relative advantages for one side or the other.

In addition to your post, the Odyssey was trying to buy time so O'Brien could locate Sisko, so maybe they weren't totally able to focus on their own defense.
