The tailor like much of the rest of the game is coded like spaghetti, from what I understand of it its not easy to alter it on the fly or quickly.

One thing I remember them commenting on in the past was the requested gender change option for characters. A dev looked at this while they were doing something else and said that while it was possible to do it, the sheer amount of work involved to get it functional just wasn't worth the effort. I imagine unlocking the costumes would fall into similar lines and they probably feel its time best spent elsewhere.

Ten Forward weekly 15/06/22

• Kael spent 10-20 minutes trying to fix the audio of the stream while streaming rather than having it set up beforehand always a bad sign of how and what to expect I guess. This week he was joined by Lead Environment artist Scot Boyd, This offered its own entertainment with Scots wife unpacking clothes behind him and kids running about.
• The boardwalks in Risa and any wooden areas have been improved making docks look like they have individual boards and they put a new Transporter in and added some visual improvements
• Huts and roofing updated
• Ropes were added in certain areas of the map and new trees
• We get a who look at that from Haael at the Space Jellyfish
• Larg structures remain the same as the old map but may someday be addressed
• Day times discussed and day and night cycles discussed lighting 2 might be problematic but its something that could be an option
• Making different instances as separate maps at differing times of day morning, midday, afternoon and evening would be too hard to do
• Kael did the announcement himself this year in Photoshop rather than use an 80s vaporwave template
• New summer events during the summer content are unlikely
• A summer baseball event has been discussed but nothing more than discussions.
• A boat or Jetski race would be too similar to a surfboard so unlikely to be an event that would be considered
• Space maps are the easiest to upscale and improve on with old maps
• Summer is the same date on all platforms
• Starfleet Acadamy map tutorial vs social zone differences are different so not to break thinks but are being looked at for improvements soon
• If time was not a factor and he could Scot would redo the Iconian ship interior as in the Quarks Lucky 7 map
• Adventure zones unlikely to be repeated due to time constraints and team size at present

I have to admit that I was a bit underwhelmed with the part I caught of this Ten Forward. It was prefaced as "great new changes to Risa", which made me think there was some big new addition or overhaul this year. While the new boardwalks and huts do look good, I kind of feel like it was a change that could very easily have been missed if they hadn't explicitly called it out. I know some people like to drop in on Risa during the offseason, but I'm usually not one of them so I think speaking for myself I'd probably at best chalk it up to just misremembering the look of things since I hadn't been there for 10+ months.

Little update from what I've seen over on Reddit - a new ship will be revealed next week (not related to the summer event) and one of the guesses is it's the Mirror Reliant.

I know some people like to drop in on Risa during the offseason, but I'm usually not one of them so I think speaking for myself I'd probably at best chalk it up to just misremembering the look of things since I hadn't been there for 10+ months.

I just started dropping in on Risa to get my ground gear trays set up and to get my fingers used to the powerboard and floater controls. I sat inside one of the huts for over an hour, and I logged in and out several times over several days. I noticed NOTHING different.
