William Shatner graced my city recently at a "GalaxyCon" convention event; saw and met him today. He has been like my childhood hero and this was and probably is the only and once in a lifetime opportunity. That is one item off the "bucket list" if I ever had one. William Shatner is 91 years old and I couldn't imagine him doing too many of these in the future, but I could be wrong, he showed a lot energy during his Q&A session. He was very friendly, cheerful and kind. During his Q&A session I sat in on he cracked a lot of jokes and spoke about the production of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and the delays it faced, he spoke about his experience scuba diving with sharks in the Bahamas and being scared of sharks, and then spoke about going into space and if the possibility of life in our galaxy/universe existed. He even spoke about the time he was filming "Boston Legal" and had his kidney stone ordeal and that a Casino called him asking how much he would sell it for, which was funny. Overall it was a exciting experience and there was a lot a lot of people who wanted to see him too. Course I would highly recommend anyone to go if he comes to your area. I managed do a photo op with him and he autographed one of my books he authored. I had a few of his "Shatnerverse" novels", I brought the one that made the most sense, the novel where he brings back Captain Kirk. He signed it on the title page before the book began.
Oh... and by the way, when I got in front of him when he signed my book, I asked him if he ever found out "What does God need a starship for?"... he smiled. Whether or not it was because of my question or that I had one of his books, I may never know but it was great nonetheless.

I once went to a DragonCon because Shatner, Nimoy, and Patrick Stewart were all booked to be there. Shatner and Nimoy cancelled at the last minute, I was so bummed out. But Sir Patrick showed up and was great, his stock went way up in my book.
