I've not seen this skin being used for a long time now. Thomas Marrone has posted some screens of the newly remodelled ship. The in-game lore now has it as an attempt to create the Excelsior in a smaller frame and fewer crew around the same time as the Ambassador Class, but plans to construct them to refresh cruiser forces got scrapped, with the Excelsiors and Mirandas leaned upon instead for a larger quantity of ships.

Compared to the original model which is one of the oldest in the game, it's a massive improvement.

It's a nice remaster, although I'm going to miss the old Vesper model. It's ugly, but it does bring memories.
