Hi folks!
Its odd to be back after 10 years, the game has changed so much! On that note many thanks to Remsus for helping out with guidance on my return.
Ok....a bit of background.....Its a Fed Tactical captain that is my main and when I played years ago I used the T5 Jem'Hadar bug. This I have upgraded to T5X. I historically ran Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons.....which IIRC was good for PvP (which is what I was doing in my later days in STO 10 years ago.
I am now looking at upgrading my ship, and want a similar ship to the one I have as I like to turn rate and the cannons.....I want to (eventually be competitive on DPS) but using the Escort Cannon set up. I am considering the "Legendary Dominion Capital Bundle" for the newest Bug equivalent, which seems to have some nice aspects (console/trait/mastery). My question is given the above...is this the logical Ship or are there other suggestions or "better" (I know it can be subjective) ship that will fit the bill better?
Any guidance/advice greatly appreciated.

If you strictly want to upgrade to something T6, the Legendary Jem'hadar Pilot Attack ship is pretty solid. It offer the extension trait for Cannon:Rapid Fire and all specialization firing mode options, the Vanguard wingman mechanic for 2 extra pets, and with the recent revamp to Pilot powers you have several build style options. It is also fast and maneuverable, enhanced by the Pilot maneuvers mechanic. All in all, it is a pretty good ship and should be similar enough to what you are used to to flying to make it an easy transition.
That said, if this is your very first T6 ship, there may be some other, cheaper ships to consider for picking up some strong traits, like the one off Arbiter/Kurak/Morrigu. I would also suggest rolling a Klingon Recruit next time they turn on that event to pick up the Cannon: Scatter Volley extension trait from the freebie ship you can unlock from there, as CSV is generally the best Cannon and all-around strongest energy build. There are other options to consider like the Hydra too that may be worth a look depending on what you'd like to get out of a new ship.
Ultimately it really just comes down to what it is that you value most in a ship.

There are a lot of great escort style ships around, also from all factions and sources.
Darthnovawave already explained the most important stuff, I would also suggest looking into spec powers and what you want out of Command/MW/Intel/Temporal/Pilot and then use that to narrow down the huge amount of ships there are.
