Command the Theseus from IDW!
The Theseus, commanded by Benjamin Sisko in Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing's "Star Trek" Comic, is coming to the Infinity Lock Box!
By Ambassador Kael June 21, 2023, 09:00 AM
The Theseus Miracle Worker Destroyer [T6] was both named and designed after the primary configuration of the modular ship commissioned by Captain Montgomery Scott in the 2370s. It incorporated a mix of tried-and-true starship design principles, personal adjustments by the Captain, and new technology that could be trialed and reconfigured as needed. While it technically had seen service in an earlier arrangement, this new vessel had dramatically different capabilities, and its inaugural voyage saw it helmed by a reconstituted Captain Benjamin Sisko, with Commander Data as first officer, piloted by Lt Tom Paris and generally crewed by some of the finest Starfleet had to offer. While the precise nature of Captain Sisko's mission was kept tightly classified, the ship underwent further changes during its voyage. Starfleet has yet to fully reverse-engineer many of the technologies present, but enough of them could be replicated to make the Theseus-class Miracle Worker Destroyer a fine addition to the fleet.
Theseus Miracle Worker Destroyer [T6]
This starship includes a Commander Tactical / Miracle Worker specialist bridge officer seat and a Lieutenant Commander Engineering / Temp Op specialist bridge officer seat.

Console – Universal – Brancher Crystal Fragments
Activating this Console fires large shards of Brancher material at Foes, and if they successfully connect they splinter and drain energy from the enemy vessel, creating smaller shards which return to the ship and empower it. Once known only as Crystalline Entities, the presence of adapted Brancher material in a beneficial role aboard the starship is a result of Captain Sisko's strange mission aboard the ever-changing Theseus.
This console provides a passive increase to Weapon Power Setting and Beam Damage
Tooltip:
Targets self
Creates 3 Brancher Fragments that
Deal Kinetic Damage
Upon colliding with a foe, each Brancher Fragment creates 2 Small Brancher Fragments that attempt to return to the owner
Small Brancher Fragments that successfully return to the owner grant
+Beam Weapon Damage (stacks up to 12 times)
Reduce current recharge of Create Brancher Fragments by 5 seconds
Starship Trait – Ship of Theseus
After achieving level 5 in your Theseus Miracle Worker Destroyer, you will unlock the Ship of Theseus starship trait. While this trait is slotted, completing an Innovation trigger grants the ship a bonus that stays forever until the ship leaves the map. Which Innovation ability and which career of Bridge Officer abilitiy is used to trigger it combine to control which bonus is granted. Up to 20 bonuses may be acquired per map.
Available Bonuses:
Instinctive Rerouting or Containment Layering triggered by:
Eng: +Engine Power
Sci: +Auxiliary Power
Tac: +Weapon Power
Heisenberg Decoupling or Ingenious Solutions triggered by:
Eng: +Shield Power
Sci: +Exotic Particle Generator
Tac: +Critical Chance
Barclay Maneuver or Plasma Conduit Purge triggered by:
Eng: +Flight Speed strength
Sci: +Tactical Readiness
Tac: +Critical Severity
Experimental Weapon – Solarvoltaic Array
This starship also comes with an Experimental Weapon slot, equipped with Solarvoltaic Array. This weapon is powered by a modified fusion reactor that more closely resembles a miniature contained star, and while somewhat unpredictable, it is capable of releasing jets of flame to incinerate Foes. A major benefit of such a device is the knock-on benefit to other Energy Weapons: each time the weapon discharges, there is a chance to overload other Energy Weapons and cause them to fire at a tremendously increased rate for a brief window.

Surprised they went lockbox with this. Visually it seemed kinda boring, but that's understandable given that it comes from a comic and not something high-rez like the TV shows. The trait seems very fickle too, and triggering off of Innovation means you have no control over the buffs, and I feel like you probably won't be on any given map long enough to rack up many stacks of anything. I'm guessing they are banking on there being a lot of fans of the comics for this one, but I'm wondering just how many STO players have read them, and further like the comics enough to burn an infinity box ship on this.

The Experimental Weapon would be really good, it has a 10% chance too give your energy weapons a 200% Haste Bonus for 4 seconds.

That is admittedly a big boost, but I'm wondering how that works out in practice. The weapon has a 6 second recharge per the tooltip, so it fires 10x per minute (assuming it doesn't get haste buffed itself). With 10% odds, that means on average 1 proc per minute, and with only a 4 second uptime per minute I'd suspect that only amounts to one or maybe 2 extra fire cycles a minute out of your regular weapons. Maybe that plus the damage of the weapon itself works out better than I think it would with my quick napkin math, but I am a bit skeptical until we get some people crunching the numbers on this one.

And that is why I wait and let someone else find out if it is worth it or not.

I'd be interested in this... but I do about a dozen lock boxes per year (just for the heck of it) so the chance of me ever getting it are slim to infinity.
What I really need is a cupholder and a couple of Advil.-Quincy Taggart

I mean that's about all they do now, ships locked behind either gamble boxes or expensive packs...and when we do get something separate the expensive pack has a lot of good stuff to try and tempt people to buy it
Off the console boosts beam damage, another escort they gave beam boosting things

I'm gamble boxed out for a while. The neo-connie was the only one I was interested in (also very happy with now that I've got her lined out). Perhaps if we had a Sisko series and this was actual canon I wouldn't mind going after it but it's not, so I'll just let others have at it.
Never did see anything about the second ship. I'm a little curious about it.
