This episode was interesting, I wouldn't say it was good as the last 3, however it’s still had some great points that makes me love the show.

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was already a bit weaker compared to the general parameter SNW set. Hoping this one will be better, planning to watch it tonight.

Any episode following Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was going to be judged more critically since many believe it is one of the best so far and Among The Lotus Eaters got that dubious honor. Personally, I really enjoyed this episode as the show continues to perfectly balance what old school Trek fans like while catering to the new Trek folks as well. Was it as good as "Tomorrow, ditto"? Not quite but stands on its own merit in my book. Eagerly anticipating the next installment. Bonus points for not trying to make Spock funny in this one and no Fake Kirk.

There were some really good standout moments in this episode for me. The interaction between Spock and Ortega was great. Ortega in general just made the episode for me, especially her personal log entries. I was also really glad to have Pike more central in the story than he'd been in the last few episodes. I just enjoy when he's on screen and his interaction with people/crew. Reminds me of Jonathan Archer at times in how he portrays his ideals, even in just mini moments that are more subtext than major theme. Those moments are superb writing and acting to me.
LOGIC IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM; NOT THE END. - SPOCK

Let's be real here, the episode most of us are really looking forward to is... going to be in parts very animated.
That said, I liked this one. If there's one show that can revisit events from The Cage, it's this one. Hell, it's probably the ultimate callback as far as events in Star Trek go.
