[Patch Notes] - STO PC PATCH NOTES FOR 13/JUL/23

We will be performing shard maintenance on July 13 from 7-9:30 AM Pacific (14:00-16:30 UTC).

General:

Updates for Maelstrom Quantum Torpedo Launcher: Recharge time halved, damage reduced to compensate with overall dps unchanged.
Increased the Hull Penetration from stacks of Analysis and the Shields gained by the ship using the Console - Advanced Science - Energy Field Gradient Projector.

> It is clear these were underperforming, and while the math for the advanced consoles is still ongoing, this case was clear enough to make an early buff here safe.
Plasmatic Biomatter Auto-Turret can now be re-engineered.
Resolved an issue that was preventing Prolonged Engagement Phaser Dual Cannons from activating while under the effects of Surgical Strikes II.
Resolved an issue that was preventing damage increases from any +damage bonuses on the Console - Universal - Brancher Crystal Fragments.
Resolved an issue where Holographic Bridge Officer Dr. Beverly Crusher was still locking out torpedo abilities after triggering High Yield.
Improved the layout for the Admiralty and Duty Officer windows.

I actually have the opposite problem, I have a launch issue, where it goes to the Cryptic splash screen and then the progress bar at the bottom doesn't move. I have to end-task it and relaunch, sometimes a few times.

That‘s a common problem, you just have to wait. Craptic Cryptic mentioned it in previous patch notes.

It would appear that the Maelstorm hasn't come out of this nerf round well at all. Despite the devs openly stating it was intended to a be a different, more strategic thinking needed style of torpedo that you couldn't spam and instead used at the opportune moment to deliver a large blow, the early testing by Spencer seems to show that it's now fallen somewhat behind the other various torpedo options. The Dark Matter ones seem to be back in the driving seat again for Spread and the Delphic launcher for HY.

So there we go, it seems Cryptic have once again decided that the players are having too much fun and they can't have that now can they? I'm not salty about it as I got the bundle for the cruiser version of the Akira, but I can't say I agree with the approach.

This was removed from patch notes and has been re added (developer context for Maelstrom Torpedo)

While we're happy with the play pattern and overall dps, this thing has been one-shotting bosses too easily. Recharge time halved, damage reduced to compensate with overall dps unchanged.

Has anyone seen any major differences? I'm trying to figure out what this refers to and all I've seen so far is that the xp/whatever is abbreviated now e.g. "2K" instead of 2,000

That's pretty much it. They changed the numbers to use abbreviations like "2k" to allow for clearer and slightly larger font. Otherwise it is the same. Subtle change, but not a bad one.
