    General stuff

    Thomas realized, only once it was too far into development to change anything, that they had no Section 31 content for the upcoming Season 31, and talked to Al Rivera about it, and Al was like "Yeah, you are right"

    Might make Rex pets for previous Alliance ships at some point in the future, but not being worked on right now

    Thomas saw people on Reddit talking about how they wanted Cryptic to use one of the larger Dominion ships for the design. But Thomas felt that the Bug ship was the more iconic ship and that there was something interesting taking the Defiant and Bug ship, which had fought each other on the shows, and mixing them together. Thomas and Hector then talk about how many of the larger Dominion ships don't have much, outside of color and the prongs on the front, that really makes them stand out from Klingon or Romulan ships, leaving them much less room to work with when possibly merging designs. Might do a design using one of these ships in the future

    New event ship. Khitomer Alliance Rex

    Kael jokes the new ship could be called the Bugfient.

    Mauricio modeled the ship. He also did the Jarok Alliance ship.

    Has wingmen. Wingmen are the same ship as the Rex.

    Hector does a lot of "whiteboxing" with ship designs in 3d, which Cryptic often takes and refines into the finish ship design. This makes it easier to make the ships compared to starting from just a 2d drawing where proportions, and shapes, may not translate over to 3D properly.

    New console: Elite Alliance Squadron Beacon. +8% crit severity, + 10% flight speed. Summons alliance escorts to flight alongside you. One Fed, one KDF, one ROM, one Jem, fighter is summoned.

    Ship comes with AP Dual cannons

    Experimental weapon: Inertial Polaron Shunt/ Does Polaron damage, faster with ship speed.

    Can't hide alliance symbol

    No customization with Defiant or Bug Ship

    Trait: Inertial Supremacy: Debuff foes during weapon firing modes

    Cryptic wanted to do a Picard S3 themed lockbox, and this ship made the most sense to fit in with the more Starfleet themed lockbox

    Based off of a ship Bill did a model for a long time ago called the Hornet, a TMP era ship design. Bill didn't design the ship, it came from a fan design publication before TNG came out

    When Bill came onto Picard S3 they needed a "nemesis" ship for the Titan, and look at Bill's Hornet, and asked him to reinterpret it through the PIC S3 era deign style

    Tobias Richter did the model, Mauricio did the in-game intake of the model

    Has the Connie III material, and the Connie III's animated nacelles

    Ship is bigger than people might expect. Same saucer size as the Titan

    Console: Energy Being Habitat: +2.9% crit chance, +5 current weapon subsystem power. Store Power levels in an energy being ally.(Its a Calamarain that can be used to attack enemies)

    Trait: Active EPS management: EPS adapts to power levels, weapon firing modes add damage.

    Andrew Nielsen, an effects artist, did the Calamarain effects

    The Bill is Bill Krause, who also designed the Radiant Class model which is seen in the background of the Stargazer conference room. He also did the Connie IIi with Drexler as his TMP-era Shangri-Li class design became the basis for it.

    • Cryptic is pretty sure they found whats been causing camera issues on consoles, and are working to fix it. Not ETA on when the fix will go out(Kael gets a message mid stream that the camera issue is fixed internally)
    • Still hunting down the cause of the lag for some people. Cryptic has looked at the things people suggested were the cause, and it was none of them.
    • Kael hasn't heard anything about a "hanger bay increase token"(someone in chat asked about a rumor regarding this)
    • Has more hopes for a Gender change token then he has in a long time
    • Has seen a test of a "squadron ship" working, but he isn't sure it will be working as something we can play in-game any time soon
    • Someone asked about a 2nd chance buyout for Red alerts, Kael said he would pass the idea along.
    • Kael will ask about when the Tommy Gun unlock will happen/remind people about it
    • Will pass on issues with Organic Nebula
    • Tal Shiar ship was included in the 14th anniv bundle because they wanted to include a Borg ship and that was the one they could include
    • Console Anniv in March, doesn't know exact date off the top of his head
    • Ships that end up in Mudd's Bundles are based on various factors like data on what ships player's want the most, the "newness" of the ship, and how popular a ship "feels"
    • Kael will ask about the Sagan getting the animated nacelles the Connie III and Duderstadt use
    • Will ask about the Sec 31 rifle being made available somewhere
    • Will pass along chat request for confirmation when turning item protection off
    • There are planned surprises for cast in the upcoming story arc
    • Will ask about why consoles on the T'liss are not usable on every ship
    • Will ask about increasing the endeavor cap
    • It would be extremely difficult to make a cross faction BOFF
    • Bort is still employed by Cryptic(someone asked about Bort in chat)
    • Cryptic can't read any sort of story/mechanic ideas people send in due to legal reasons
    • No plans for any 3D printed models to come back soon
    • No current plans to revamp the old removed Klingon War missions
    • Lag may be tied to issues with some of the new abilities, but that isn't the whole/main problem
    • Non Fed ships is kind of a "sake eating its own tail thing", not as much as something like PVP. Most people who play STO want to play the fantasy of being in Starfleet, not playing some other alien faction/flying their ships.
    • Usually when there's a bug on console, but not PC, it stems from something specific to console like its hardware/software
    • Making KDF/Alien ships more OP would cause some more people to buy them, but there's a huge section of the playerbase who aren't using ships for the stats. Meaning they aren't going to pick up a KDF ship even if its OP.
    • Kael says not to quote him on it, but he thinks he recalls hearing the current story arc has two anniversary updates to go before its over. That's him half remembering a conversation, not something that was ever written down.
    • Before he left Al Rivera left VERY detailed documentation on this story arc/how it will continue

    Ten Forward weekly 3/19/2024(All Fans! All hands)

    General
    • Short term of the transition from Cryptic to DECA will be more people involved in the game's development.
    • There's nearly daily calls between Cryptic staff and DECA staff on things like development, roadmaps, what players want from the game, etc.
    • Long term, Phil thinks Cryptic will take more of a support function as more of the primary development moves to DECA.
    • Conversations with DECA began in Nov 2023. Plan is that transition would take around a year, but between hiring/training it might be longer.
    • None of Cryptic's games are going to be sunset, as per the current plan. Intent is to keep the games running a long time.
    • Licenses with Paramount/Wizards last several more years.
    • STO is called out every quarter for being a top performing title in Embracer's back catalogue.
    • DECA is planning to maintain the relationships with people at Paramount/Trek actors. DECA staff is being trained in that right now.
    • No planned changes for STO/NW/Champion updates/modules release schedule. Current release size is rough indicator of future release sizes.

    STO plans
    • March 2024: New Mudd bundle with 2 popular ship picks.
    • April 2024: First contact day + new Star Trek Beyond ship.
    • May 2024: New Iconian event + new reward. New ship bundle T6 Dysons. New season planned for the end of the month.
    • June 2024: New Mudd bundle.

    Season 32: Name not finalized
    • Continuation of Kings and Queens story
    • 1 new episode
    • 1 new TFO(an endless battle arena like Sompek)

    Honestly, I'm optimistic, I think things can only go up from here and it seems like this was genuinely the best possible choice for STO. Should be seeing DECAs CM's show their heads in a couple weeks which will be an improvement on the... current...CM.

    Hopefully it is a "short term pain, long term gain" scenario. More overall devs hopefully will help once they get up to speed, but sounds like the time zone differences are probably limiting the amount of training time overall so far, and likely it will take several months before they are really up to speed. I doubt DECA's dev team will come to the forefront for some time, and wouldn't be surprised if we see some sort of Cryptic/DECA exec handoff communication beforehand to set the tone for things before they start shuffling their team into the spotlight.

    So I'm guessing that the fact that DECA have their own CM's coming on board soon means that the writing is on the wall for Kael?

    Seriously though, I'd not lose any sleep over him going. Look at the folks Cryptic have lost recently, Jonathan especially who wasn't afraid to try new things and tell it like it is and yet that buffoon Kael is still here drawing a salary.

    • New ship is an infinity R&D ship.
    • Because the I-mod rifle was big hit, they added the new photon burst weapon.
    • Classified as a rifle. Limit to how many torpedoes it can hold(6 charges), uses an internal replicator to make new torpedo every 15 seconds.
    • Expectation is that you start the fight using this weapon, raining damage down on enemies, then switch to your normal weapon.
    • Does AOE damage/knockback. Deals physical damage. Enemies defeated by it are disintegrated. You can knock yourself back with this weapon, but not team members. If you have resistance to knockback you can resist it. Doesn't knockback 100% of the time. Can give weapon to BOFFs.
    • Secondary fire more is a homing mode. Launches to whichever foe is closest to you, not primary target.
    • One of the design goals of this weapon was to feel beefier then photon torpedo kit module since its a full weapon.
    • New ship is Kelvin Enterprise-A as seen in the credits of Beyond.
    • Normally Cryptic doesn't add a ship unless they've seen it do something they can build a power on, despite this ship only being seen at the end, they drew inspiration from Star Trek Beyond, giving it tech to prevent another swarm attack from destroying the ship.
    • New Console "Universal Proximity based anti-opposition emitter" +X% phaser damage, +X% flight speed and turn rate. AOE phaser damage based on speed. For 20 sec centered on self foes within 1km take X phaser damage X4 per sec. Small enemy targets are vaporized on contact(mines, torps, fighters, etc)
    • New trait "gravitational nexus" Maneuverability, exotic, and projectile buffs in area near anomalies. Creates a artificial gravitational nexus for 3 0sec, one per 45 sec max. Allies within 5km of the nexus gain +20% flight speed + turn rate, +20% bonus all damage with exotic damage abilities, +20% bonus all damage with projectile weaponry
    • Can be kitbashed with the other Kelvin Connies.
    • Has a cloak due to being an intel primary.
    • Cryptic made this variation of the Connie due to fan requests for it, and to fill a gap between the seasons of the TV shows introducing new ships.
    • Cryptic is working on a ship they are very excited for, but they had to delay it because it didn't appear in the shows when they thought it would.
    • STO designed to be a theme park where you can experience any part of the franchise somewhere, even if this leads to things like two versions of Seven of Nine being in the game.
    • New ship comes out Thursday
    • Ship can't use DHCs
    • Jessie will look into/ask about Kelvin omni-beams
    • Now that cross faction flying is a thing there is a little more demand for Klingon/Romulan/Dominion ships, though still not a lot. Though there are Klingon and Romulan ships coming in the upcoming Dyson bundle.
    • There is an interesting twist coming with the Dyson ships.
    • Kael showed off a Klingon and Romulan Dyson Ship.

    Fed T6 Dyson Ship. Kardeshev Class
    • Hector Ortiz designed all 3 ships, Tobias Richter modeled them with intake by Mauricio.
    • Thomas had clear instruction for these new Dyson ships. He still wanted them to feel Dyson, but lean way more into the original faction(FED/KDF/ROM) feel then the old Dyson ships did.
    • Mauricio put in a tweak to the Dyson material. Instead of making the dyson purple part of the texture, players can now change that color to whatever they want. Can also change some of the glass textures on parts of the ship.
    • Back when the original Dysons were being made Thomas was a UI artists, and it never sat right with him that they leaned so heavily into the dyson feel for all of them. These new ships were something of a deferred dream of Thomas' to bring more of the original faction design language into them.
    • You can mix and match parts from the old dysons and new dysons, which was something of a challenge for Mauricio to get all the pylons and stuff lined up. Especially since these ships have special animations like having the cannons in the cells pop out.
    • Console - Universal - Networked Protonic Shield Matrix: +5 max engine power. +5% max hull capacity. Periodic Damage absorption for self an allies.
    • Experimental Dual Heavy Proton Emitter: X proton Damage, 2% chance engine offline, and shield offline, for 5.6 seconds. 2% chance - 12 all damage resistance rating for 11.1 sec. Only active in tactical mode. 3 sec recharge.
    • Trait: Protonic Carrier Wave: Proton dmg grants DrainX and reduces recharge. Once per 2 sec when dealing proton damage: +10 starship drain expertise for 10 sec. -5% recharge time on command bridge officer ability and drain bridge officer abilities.

    ROM T6 Dyson Ship. Rallus Class
    • Wanted to unify it with design language of other recent Romulan designs. Long head, arrowhead like, compared to the more D'deridex round of the older Dyson ships. Batwing like extrusions on the back.
    • Even with the more original faction focused designs of the new dysons, the purple nacelles were a concession to the original dyson heritage. Can still use the normal material with green and blue nacelles.
    • In the original concept the engines were on the wings, but had to be moved to the back of the tail of the ship to make it work with the other Rom Dyson variants, as they all had to fit the same skeleton.
    • Muricio added all of the modern FED/KDF/Rom materials to all the dyson ships.
    • Trait: Siphoned Defenses: SecShields from Drain or TempOp Buff Abilities. Activating a Drain Boff ability, ot any TempOp Boff ability grants 2356.5 secondary shielding for 20 sec
    • Same experimental weapon as Fed/KDF ship
    • Console - Universal - Reverberant Shield Inversion Projector: +5 max shield power. +10% shield capacity. Targeted AOE drain Shield, SecShilds to Allies.

    KDF T6 Dyson Ship. Le'laH class
    • Cannons on ship tactical mode will move around as you fire.
    • Hector leaned more into the dyson flavor with the ribcage wings.
    • Mauricio had to do some tweaks on the sections that met the extensions to the nacelles because there were gaps in the original model when customizing the ship
    • Jeremy Randall picked the class names for all the ships.
    • Console - Universal- Proton Eruptor Module" +5 max weapon power. +10% crit severity with exotic damage abilities. Targeted AOE maintained Proton Damage.
    • Trait: Protonic Graviton Exchange: Sacrifice Secshield for PBAoE proton Damage. Activating Tactical team or any intel bridge officer ability consumes all sec shielding and deal X proton damage to does within 5km. Removes all sec shield from self. Only triggers max once per 20 sec.
    • Same experimental weapon as Fed/Rom ship

    Other stuff
    • Each ship is a different specialization to give as much variety as possible since they were only doing 3 ships instead of 9. Cross faction flying meant it wasn't enough to just be "here is the same ship for Klingons" needed to give people a reason to buy the other ships.
    • Ships can be bought separately.
    • Bundle includes all 3 ships + 1 T6 ship coupon(given to character who buys the product) + 8 experimental ship upgrade tokens(given to character who buys product) + 4 ship slots(given to character who buys the product) + Solanae Sentinel, and Solanae Paladin EV suits(reclaimable for whole account) + Dyson Sphere Research outfit + title Science Destroyer.
    • Dyson console set bonus
    • Set 2: Refractive Particles: Passive. +19.8 Proton Damage(scales with Aux power). -50% threat gen.
    • Set 3: Protonic Overclocking: Passive: Every 2 sec in combat that you do not take hull damage gain 2 current and max aux subsystem power for 20 sec. Each stack refreshes this duration, and may stack up to 10 times, and stacks with other forms of increased max subsystem power.
