This discussion thread is being posted on behalf of the Federation News Service and is intended to foster discussion/share stories and encourage community engagement.

Just under a year ago I posed the question to all of you, 'What ship do you love' where we got to share what ships we all love to look at and fly about (feel free to post yours there now if you missed it. This is me giving permission to revive that thread I started). This is a sort of sequel to that one this time looking at the the unifroms of the Star Trek Universe.

As before feel free to post pictures from shows or STO and to pick any unifrom (or even outfit) from The Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Empire or Repbulic or anywhere else.

I will say that my favourite uniform is the one from Star Trek Enterprise. The bluey pruple colour of the main bit and the plentifuyl pockets that just make it seem like such a useful and comfortable unifrom I would actually love to have when doing any projects in the more craft or engineering side.

So what's your favourite uniform in the Star Trek Universes (Prime, Mirror or Kelvin). Let us know in a friendly discussion down below.

My favorite uniforms are the original series and ones based off of them. SNW is the best, then Kelvin, then TOS. I just love the simplistic design instead of the fancier newer ones.

My favourite Federation uniform would be the movie uniform from Star Trek II - designed by Robert Fletcher. I loved the rank insignia and the fact that it made Star Fleet feel like a naval department. Very much more militaristic (not to everyone’s taste) - but it certain felt human in origin.


My absolute favourite uniform from across all the series/movies would have to be Shinzon’s outfit. Whilst the movie might not have been everything we would have wanted - I think the costuming for the film was spot on.

my absolute favorite is the captains odyssey uniform(in STO) and the ceremonial uniforms as seen in DS9(earlier seen) then will be then will be the Admiral uniform worn by Q in TNG.

In terms of "Canon": Odyssey Uniforms without a doubt. Second is actually probably a tie between the SNW Monster Maroon and the TMP Pajamas.

Late DS9 era is my favorite (like in my signature and avatar) followed by the S3 Picard one.
I also like the Odyssey uniforms a lot, unfortunately they are non-canon and we can't use them for official signatures but they look so so good.

My favourite in Canon has to be late DS9 / First Contact uniform as worn here during my visit at Starfleet Academy a few years back:



In STO I also really like the Odyssey uniform lines which is my go to uniform in various configurations also based on the mission ahead supported by head canon.

My favorites are the TOS dress uniforms, but in STO I change the colors for each character/crew.

It seems I do agree with most of you actually. Although the Enterprise jumpsuits is my favourite and one I wish I could wear IRL due to how comfy they look and the numerous pockets I also love the TOK uniforms (Monster Maroons). I agree with many of you that they look the closest to an actual military uniform (and I'm not getting into Starfleet is or isn't a military discussion today maybe another post). Well styled and with plenty of movement for regular tasks it looks smart without being over the top in upkeep requirements. The different symbols for the ranks that all look very nice in their spot and the far more numerous colours for divisions make a very striking look that has carried it well as a staple of formal starfleet atire throughout the years.

The Odyssey unfirom is probably my 3rd favourite especially the Commanding Officers variant. I have made a few of my own styles with how an Admiral might wear this while commanding a fleet but overall a great look that works well for my crew and officers. Although within STO itself I do sometimes use the Discovery Type B (USS Enterprise variant) uniform as the striking colours stand out very well in game. I usually keep swapping between this Type B and Odyssey uniforms as I find the Monster Maroons details get lost in the unfortunate lack of graphical capabilities of my computer or PS5 (though I think this is more of an optimisation issue).

me personally I am a huge Voyager fan. So I love the Voyager uniform with the division colors on top and black on the bottom.

On the Federation side, I would say the TOS uniform (as well as the SNW version)... but I do also like the (game) Odyssey and Sierra uniforms. I have NEVER been a fan of the TNG uniforms.

On the Klingon side, that is easy. I LOVE the Honor Guard uniforms... ESPECIALLY with the helmet.
