Wonderful article! I had no idea Ursa Major was more than the typical "dipper" part. I learned something today!

As a long-time stargazer, I appreciate catching up in the seasonal night skies. I only sometimes wish that Star Trek references come with an arrow pointing to the star with a name, helping me to find it. While I do enjoy the night skies and constellations, I recognize only a few by name and even less when it comes to the stars from Earth... any help would be lovely. I looked longingly at Leo, searching for Wolf 359, the red dwarf, but did not recognize it from Earth. It looks different, up close... been there done that! But I realize that doing this means more work.... and so... I'm happy to appreciate what you've done as it stands. :-) If we view the night skies from outside of ESD, can we recognize the night skies of the Earth? I haven't tried to do this... I'm now curious enough to try and see what I can find, perhaps Leo, and Wolf 359? :-) Definitely, I can... from sector space.
Seek not the outer entanglements. Dwell not within the inner void. Be content with the oneness of things and duality vanishes by itself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this month's Stellar Cartography, I'm glad you found it useful - albeit a bit limited when it comes to actually seeing things like Wolf 359.
First, you will need a reasonably large telescope to see it. Although it is quite close to the Sol System (only 7.86 light years away) and classified as a Red Giant star, Wolf 359's magnitude is only 13.59, making it impossible to see with the naked eye.
But if you want to know where to look, it's almost halfway between Regulus and Denebola and almost in line with the first star of Virgo. So, even though you won't actually see it, rest assured, you will be looking straight at it.
From sector space, and at warp 9.9, I believe you would make it from the Sol system in approximately 22 hours.
Star chart below to help you find the right area of sky to look.
To see what you get with a little optical aid...
The red dwarf of Wolf359 can be seen a little bit above the center of the image, and is the bright red star in frame.
