I think that you've summed this series up perfectly! It was pretty hard to watch. Unlike you, though, I think that this will get a 2nd season. Just to be clear, I don't think that it deserves a second season, but I see many projects being continued, not for the fans, or good business, but for the people involved in the production, and the furthering of the stories that they want to tell. Seeing the direction that Disney is going with Star Wars, I hope that they do not continue with The Acolyte, but I fear it's the story that they want to tell.

I hope it doesn't get a second series, and I fear Disney might have to undo much of what they tried to cobble together and that will just mean another 8 episodes of dross... they could do a series on The Rise of Plagueis - but if they do, they shouldn't meddle with the canon for that...

I refused to watch it on principle. Until Kennedy and her ilk are gone from Lucasfilm, I'll not subscribe to Disney plus, and I won't consume any new Star Wars content.

So I appreciate your summation of the dumpster fire that was the acolyte. That being said I could see them doing a season 2. Disney has been intentionally tone deaf for years when it comes to star wars. Pushing Kennedy's agenda and destroying canon / alienating fans all in the name of identity politics.

That's not to say I have an issue with a strong female lead or even on screen diversity. But when agenda takes precedence over telling a good story and respecting the canon that came before you. That's where you lose me. When you intentionally destroy one mans creation and legacy just because you can. That's when I stop caring about the content you create.

Andor is far and away my favorite Disney+ series. It's in a different league from everything else on Disney+.

Also my favourite, it is strange but I really loved seeing the mundane living of "typical" imperial citizens - gritty, dark and very watchable - with of course some A-Class acting and a very compelling story.

I'm not sure if Kathleen Kennedy will be going anywhere soon - I get what you are saying about identity Politics, the same thing happened with Dr Who really with the 13th Doctor - They made so much about the Doctor being a woman, but didn't really write any reason for it, or stories which leaned on it or complemented it at all. I will never understand why they didn't create a strong female character spin-off with the Rani - that would have been epic! As it was we got a lot of guff and not much else, although that was down to Chibnall and his complete lack of interesting narratives.

Andor was produced by Tony Gilroy, who wrote the screen adaptations of the original Bourne films, so it was always going to nail that gritty espionage aspect of the series. Andor was probably my favourite too.
I really enjoyed Rogue One for the same reason, it was unlike every other film in the franchise but very obviously still Star Wars IP.

You're right, it's not, because nothing can top the collective dumpster fire that was The Last Jedi & The Rise of Palpatine.
