We just hosted the Game Update 7.6 “Galactic Threads” developer stream!

We will also be releasing inactive character names to be claimed at 7.6 launch. More details here.

Lastly, Subscribers that are active at 7.6 launch will be granted the Skeleton Crew inspired Meirm Cicada Companion mount!

love the fact that SWTOR is still alive and receiving updates.

Does anyone know how many active players there still are? According to SteamDB the players on Steam are sadly declining year for year, currently peaking around 4300 players.

Well, as a person returning to the game, I think it has been interesting to play. There's a lot to do and you might feel a lot of the game is locked behind the subscription, so you can't really play if you are F2P. Or so you'd think, but I've been doing pretty well without any of the subscriber stuff. I would honestly say that if the game hyped up more of the "if you sub once, you get access to everything" like LOTRO does, it would probably thrive more.

Though there's a lot of things in the game that are explained well like the Legacy function and with the Legacy function it basically has bonuses that you need to get if you get everything. Which I suppose makes it so that you are rewarded for more you play, but for a new person could find that pretty daunting.

Will say the stories are still good. I like that Jedi Knight is the typical Jedi Knight story. I do find it funny though that the game keeps giving me Dark side gear. As if to say "you should've went dark side".

Just a note here for old players.
I received an email from SWTOR about potentially losing my character's names:

Hello from the SWTOR team!

We wanted to let you know that players character name(s) are at risk of being released for inactivity if you have not logged into a character since January 1, 2024. That character name can potentially be claimed by someone else at 7.6 launch, currently targeted for December.

In order to keep a character name, you must:

- Be an active Subscriber at 7.6 launch OR
- Log into the game with the character whose name you want to keep prior to 7.6 launch

To subscribe, you can purchase individual plans or the Join the Fight bundle which comes with 60 days worth of sub time, 2400 Cartel Coins, and the exclusive K-NoCo B5C Mount!

If you want to claim a released name, the Rename: Character Name Consumable item will be 99% off for one week following 7.6 launch.


Be sure to log your character into the game before 7.6 goes live to keep your character name!

They're doing it again, where they want new players to have opportunity to have some names currently blocked by inactive players.

They did something similar maybe 2-3 years back. I did get an email on some of my characters too since I don't play the game anymore.

Just came to mention the name email as well, I just got it. Haven't been subbed for a bit but going to re-up for this.

On top of getting names released for use by others, it makes people like me who join and leave reup to keep our names

That said, I do support it, same reason I support Google deleting old email accounts that haven't been used in forever. If you're not using it, let someone else have at it.
