Folks, I'd like to share a mail I received in EVE recently and hear your thoughts.

I'll also say, these people have already declared war on an alliance of small corps like our own operating in Everyshore called, perhaps a bit unimaginatively, the Everyshore Alliance.

Obviously paying these ♥♥♥♥♥♥s isn't going to happen. There is no question of that. What I'd like your thoughts on is the possibility of us offering to assist the Everyshore Alliance in their war.

In my view, there are several benefits to joining in. For one, this is an opportunity for some of us that aren't that familiar with PvP in EVE to get some experience on a fairly small scale. The Everyshore Cartel currently has only 7 members, so even fighting at full strength there isn't much risk of this turning into a big deal. They are also headquartered in the same system we are, the same station in fact, so there is a very real chance of seeing these people around. This leads into my third point. I'm of the opinion that, if these people are going to be hanging around our home system making grandiose claims, we need to make it clear that we answer to no one, least of all them.

So there it is. Long story short, they think they're the next CODE., I think we should kick their faces in. But I know that not everyone who join KSDYN is interested in PVP, so if there's a massive outcry against getting involved, we won't.

Also, a small word of caution regarding their corporation size. Something I've seen been done is a protection racket will use a small corporation as their front, in order to hide the involvement of a much bigger corporation, which will come crashing down on anyone who resists their demands. Just be careful who you wardec, and who wardecs you.

I have to second Thaeus's warnings. There's a very good chance that this is exactly what it seems like, a bunch of turnip farmers playing cartel bosses. However, there's also a risk that they're a front for something much MUCH larger, and we'll suddenly find they'll have a lot of unexpected allies in their war.

I do agree with the upsides you listed Noram, but the downsides are that we'll be completely unable to conduct industrial operations safely for the time being. Especially if they're based out of our home station. We also cannot just assume we can do PvP on a 1v1 basis. There is a risk they'll coordinate and gank the crap out of anyone who comes out. If we do this, we'll need to have planned combat operations, where we'll have to put as many of us on EVE as possible ready for combat. Last time we had a war, it was against one person, and we didn't come out the other side as the pure victors.

I think as long as the corp is prepared to help cover ship losses upto but not exceeding cruiser level ships with moderate gear (No T2 super ships), then its less of a daunting prospect going to war. I'm certainly prepared to assist ISKly with anyone who takes heavy losses.

All that being said, if to war we go, then may the Lords of Cobal protect them, because I'll bring the pain. You have my sword sir.

As I don't really have any combat characters, I will be rolling one at some point. I personally would vote no, it would be quite likely that there are more than 7, and as pointed out on that dark occasion where one person royally ♥♥♥♥ed us all. Not to mention them being in the same station, will make any mining operations whatsoever, problematic. All that being said, whilst I don't like the idea of paying them, we don't have enough information about these people to make a judgement on it. How big is this Everyshore alliance?

If we do this, we need to be mindful of our limitations.

Wardec's only last five days with no activity, so if it goes inactive for that long, CONCORD will end the war. It will however be extended by ship-kills. Podding will also be a potential problem, not as much of one as it used to be eons ago, but it will cause skill training queues to reset and any injected but not-trained skills to disapear, and reset any progress made on your current skill training. Whilst not a major factor if you're doing a 4hr skill, it is a big issue if you're doing a 60 day skill, and you're 45 days into it. It will undo all of it. I'm not trying to be a nay-sayer, but I think everyone should know the facts before we go into it.

Ship losses won't be a big issue. Only go out in what you can afford to loose, which should be Frigate/Destroyer/Cruiser stuff. You can use a BC if you want, but try to avoid showboating in T2 or T3 ships, as that'll just give them an epic kill.

As I said before, to make this work properly, we'll all need to be on, and in EVE at the same time in a coordinated fleet. I'm sure you remember the battle with that one guy, and poor Chugs lost his ship due to a lack of coordination.

Sammy makes a very compelling point that we should move our industrial operations to an alternate site, to allow us to continue normal operations outside of combat. Its probably not a bad idea anyhow to have dual operational hubs. Office rents are not so extreme that we can't have a few.

I think with the talent we have at our disposal, we could certainly have a damn good laugh, and teach them a very resounding lesson. Or we could have ourselves blown up, but have a massive laugh doing it. Either way, its all part of the game! I'm certainly up for it if the majority goes in.

I mean, there should be some fairly decent PvP builds in the corporation fittings as well, should those that want to PvP do so. Either way, 7 people versus how ever many we have? Shouldn't be that bad. If we can make friends in the process, all the better.

as f2p account, there's not much I'd bring to the table. Killboard shows ones of them flying around in a Kronos, which will make short work of anything I can fly.

With that said - don't let me stop you from any war stuff. I'll skill up an alt or play more STO instead

No one is useless! I think you genuinely underestimate yourself. Even a T1 Frigate with T1 gear can do damage. I'm happy to sit down with anyone who wants advice on builds.

Heck, if Seeker can do damage, anyone can!

I think you are now
