Hi all,
I've been struggling a lot in finding a proper build that doesn't require Epic Mk XV gear right off the bat. I know this is something to work towards, but I would really need something now that I can use to sustain myself and that would help me work towards that Epic level gear.

This is currently the same loadout I use (just but I use Sensor-linked phasers instead) https://ufplanets.com/showthread.php...vy-Dreadnought, along with Bridger's Tac/Eng Skill build.
I don't have all epic stuff or some of the starship traits, Rep things or DoFFs. But I recently pulled 53k deeps with what I do have equipped =)

Gotta straighten out the rear weapons. Replace the plasma and tetryon arrays with some flavor of phaser, then everything is the same type and you can make all your tac consoles +Phaser.

Okay, I've updated the build link in the first post. I've added now 4 Tactical Phaser Relay consoles, Mk XIII VR that give 31.9% Phaser Damage. I've also added only Phaser based weapons on my ship (except torpedoes).
However, I am still unsure about the Engineering and Science consoles since they seem rather weak. Same with my critical systems, such as the impulse engines, deflector and all that stuff. Bottom line is I'm too weak for what I'm flying, and I can;t find any good explanation what fits on my setup and why does it fit.
Also, I would appreciate if someone could have a look at my skills maybe? I don't really know what happened there.

I do use a fair amount of science ships. My previous main ship was the Miracle Worker Science Cruiser. Now I have the Intel Dreadnought. Although it might be worth mentioning that I do prefer the Kelvin.

Ah sorry for the delay here. If it would be possible to use a good mix of both Science and Tactical that would be ideal. I'd rather not lose out on something and end up in the middle of the spectrum.

I can post my skill tree later if it helps. I’ve got a balanced build to allow tac and sci powers to be both fairly powerful but still move to full fledged sci ship or escort if needed. I think I have about 16pts in sci and 17 in tac.

Here is my current skill tree. It's a generalist tree so i can run with pretty much anything, allowing me to fly any kind of ship. If i was to go heavily into science i'd have to max out most of the blank sci slots to get the ultimate but it's in no way essential.

Well, I've updated the build in the link at the top again. I've added some new weapons on my ship and the damage is significantly better. The only current downside I guess is that I'm a Science officer in a Tactical/Engineer dreadnought and the occasional console such as my engines etc.
Also I don't really know what on earth happened with my Science consoles. What do people usually go for on science and engineering consoles?
