I had a certain YTber in mind when I wrote that. LOL
I guess Texas it is!
I would have suggested Wyoming or Delaware. No one is from Wyoming or Delaware. *LOL* I'm going to have to create some character from there some day. Wyoming has a western vibe to it, the Great Plains, that might be fertile ground.
And now I realize that I missed the boat....My Bolian should have been from Wyoming! *LOL*

hi, all sorry I have not been as active. just started school back up and had to take an emergency trip to pick up my mother from North Carolina. ill post after i catch back up
Be safe and careful. We took off north when Irma hit, stay on the back roads, use your GPS to mark a paper map in case the GPS lies to you. When we took the back roads, we missed the CNN coverage of the traffic jam haha we zipped right around it.
Get plenty of gas when making the getaway, we ran into panicked drivers, starting fights at the stations. A couple times we found everyone piled at one gas station while another one, down the road a couple miles, was totally empty. Everyone panics, keep your head.
Bolians were among the hundreds of different humanoid species living on Earth as of the 2370s. (DS9: "Homefront", "Paradise Lost"; VOY: "Non Sequitur", "Hope and Fear")

For real, make your Bolian from Wyoming, that'd be awesome! They could have moved, for whatever reason, and he was born and raised there!

Guys, I just got an idea for the development of Max!
I said (As Max) that he had no clue why R&D would choose me for this program. What if....it wasn't R&D? What if it was Section 31 & I didn't know?

Still figuring a plotline in my head for that. Thinking Max's Dad sorta saw the dedication in his son for starfleet compelled him to go to an old contact for S31 to see what they could do & now the captain's now beholden to s31. Still need to flesh it out a bit.

That's what I like about them, they tend to show up everywhere!
For real, make your Bolian from Wyoming, that'd be awesome! They could have moved, for whatever reason, and he was born and raised there!
Oh, I'm on it! *LOL* I'm doing the research now! I don't think it would be much of a change. I picked Sherman's Planet because I wanted something that seemed beautiful, isolated, rural, and kind of boring for a tech minded kid. Wyoming fits the bill. I think I may incorporate other moves in later in life, but Wyoming will be the foundation.
One idea is that Sisko's old Tactical chief, Hranok, from the Saratoga moved to Earth after Wolf 359 and raised his family in Wyoming.
That's interesting! You know, I think it all fits....Wyoming has a lot of Federally owned land. It's possible that they opened some of that up (the part that's not parkland) to both Terran and Alien homesteaders.
Actually, when I think about the whole thing.....this might have gone all the way back to First Contact. I'm thinking that after World War III, that part of America - Wyoming, Montana, the Dakotas, etc, was untouched by the devastation because it was sparsely populated. Maybe that's part of why Zephram Cochrane was out there. And when the Vulcans come, maybe it enjoyed a bit of a boom in settlers, until other parts of the planets recovered and it became sparse again. I dunno, just kicking around a bit of back history in my head.
You know, I wonder if the President of the United States has ever been a Bolian. *LOL* If they're born in the US, and 35 years old, they qualify! I'm thinking at least the Speaker of the House is a Bolian!

Maybe not Section 31 OR Starfleet R&D....maybe just an independent cyberneticist like Dr. Soong. Perhaps he could be a former Starfleet R&D officer who retired to do independent study. That way you can avoid all of the Section 31 commitment.

Its max's dad that's beholden to Section 31, not Max himself. Max doesn't even know it was S31. But....I will keep your suggestion in mind.

It's not a novel, there's no record of what happened to him after the saratoga so I just made it up as a nice link to canon

Hey, just a note to everyone. I rewatched the episode featuring Dorvan V the other night, and there's something kind of strange about that colony. It seems like it's built below ground. There's kind of a central plaza with pueblo-like dwellings sitting flush with one another all around. There are steps and ladders leading upward, which makes me believe that it's underground somehow. Or it's a fortress of some sort, but you'd think with a fortress you would just build a gate instead of having people climb up, then climb down. When the Cardassians arrived at the village, they came down through the ladders or steps. I dont remember actually seeing where the Enterprise crew beamed in.
Here's a few pictures
http://www.neutralzone.de/database/F...vanVColony.jpg
http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...n_Dorvan_V.jpg
http://origin-www.startrek.com/legac...-t/320x240.jpg
The leader of the colony's name was Anthwara. He was an older man at the time of the episode, but since humans live a long time, it wouldn't be surprising if he was still the leader. They have a Tribal Council. The only other named member of the Council is a man named Wakasa.
The episode does not specify, but they are most likely Pueblo Indians, from the American Southwest. The architechtural style fits. The only wrinkle is that Anthwara references one of Picard's ancestors fighting against his ancestors at the Battle of Puebla, which is the battle commemorated in the Mexican holiday of Cinco de Mayo. Puebla City is REALLY deep down in Mexico, and far away from the area where Pueblo Indians come from. So, I dunno if the writers were basing this off of Pueblo Indians and thought that the Battle of Puebla had something to do with that ethnic group because of the Pueblo/Puebla thing, or they were trying to jam a Picard reference in there (because the French were defeated at the Battle of Puebla) or what. They probably didn't expect a nerd like me to try to do some quick research on the subject for a roleplay. *LOL*
But anyway, the first part of it with the buildings may be relevant to our roleplay, the part of about what tribe they descend from is probably immaterial. The party line is that the Dorvan V settlers left Earth somewhere between 2151 and 2189 to find a colony, and they found this one because there was something spiritual about it that spoke out to them, unlike all the other planets. The group settled on Dorvan V around 2350, 20 years before the TNG episode, and 31 years from the present date.

The group settled on Dorvan V around 2350, 20 years before the TNG episode, and 31 years from the present date.
haha I did the same research and get where you're coming from. It's more like a fortress, not underground. It's supposed to be based on this architectural design, https://www.google.com/search?biw=91...gPmtKPEYHvCCM:
I'd like to see Anthwara be there. The actor was 68 at the time. Being 11 years later, he'd be 79, highly possible.

I wouldn't mind seeing the three tribal council members with Wakasa, too, all appear to be young enough.
I wonder if they left Earth after the founding of the United Federation of Planets in 2161.
