I don't we are going to miss Stahl, but I for one am eager to see how D'Angelo will do in his new role as Executive producer, hopefully season 8.5. I can't wait to see what he comes up with

Certainly won't miss Stahl, His interest is just abysmal, he's left once before, hopefully this time he won't swan back in.

I'm surprised he stayed this long to be honest, most end up changing hands very rapidly.

We shall see what the new guys brings to the table, but it will be a while before we feel his influence, since the next material will already be well into development.

I am glad to see him go all the improvements made feel to me to be the same, Starbases, mine , spire honestly they are the same thing IMO. While I might not have agreed with all the changes made during the switch to F2P I do know that this is one of the best F2P models out there and D'Angleo would have been the one active during that phase. Though I do understand that he was probably just following up on what was already set in motion at that time. Still "new" blood and change can be both good and bad time will tell. But I think if Dan was till going to be in "charge" then we would just have a endless rehash of what we have now, another holding and more consoles, I want to see something new and refreshing.

As I said in chatbox, I'm not sure what to think quite yet. D'angelo was the EP during a bad time for STO, but I'm 100% sure that was Atari and not his leadership. From what I understand there was a hiring freeze that hamstrung the development team, compiled with a lack of funding from Atari. We'll see what he can do with the large staff and good funding.

Yeah as I am sure you understand decisions are not just "Hey lets do this" and it happens, things are planned months in advance, I think it will be a while before we start to see content/ecct that is under his guidance and or influence.

I, like most, am not sure if this is good news or bad.

We've had a lot of exclusive interviews with Stahl and I always appreciated his willingness to do them so that is one thing that will be missed.

As for how good a EP he is or how good he is compared to D’Angelo it is hard to say. Both have had good and bad happen during their respective time leading STO but as pointed out above things are in the pipeline for a very long time and you really don't know how much flexibility and control they actually have.

It is very easy to blame the person at the top when you personally don't like something but I would wager that quite often it isn't any fault of theirs but even when it is there is simply no way to keep everyone happy, every tiny little change pisses off some percentage of people... I should have that framed and put above the door in FEO I think.

So, since I don't know if this is a good or a bad change I will just wish good luck to both of them.

I think you can't blame or praise a single guy for the state and development of the game. I am sure that Stahl had to follow the lead given by the money givers and decision makers. And we can't say if he tried his best to make players heard in the high offices or not. Let's just see how D'Angelo is doing and after a while we might judge who is the better EP.

I don't know how I missed this story, I honestly had forgot Stahl had existed. However he always struck me as being pretty engaged with the STO community a lot more so then I see form a majority of people in his position through out the game industry. However it is good to see him step down for other reasons.
