Hi everyone,
I suppose i'd best say Hi and introduce myself before my first week in the fleet is up 
Although like a lot of people I never really know what to say in these things
Been playing STO on and off since it beta although never really got into the stf side, preferring to enjoy my alt-itis. I do have a number of other characters (all fed side) in another very small fleet (ok I admit, it has 2 active players, myself and my son).
Apart from STO i've played a number of other mmo's from my start with Neocron, Anarchy Online, WoW, and lord of the rings online. My brief stint in Champions Online just made me nostalgic for City of Heroes.
Apart from that I enjoy (if that's the right word) being run ragged by kids as a full time dad and RPG's from pathfinder to warhammer 40k and Rifts.
Think that about covers it, apart from an apology if I don't respond to someone ingame when I'm logged in as I can get pulled away from the keyboard a lot.

If you want to give it a go the Elite Strike Force runs an Introduction to Ground STF's every Wednesday. We take players new to (or want to get better at) ground STF's step by step, as well as build/combat advice.

It's always great to see introductions.
With that said, I felt the same about Champions vs. City of Heros/Villians. 
If you like pen-paper RPGs, you may want to take a look at our UFP SIMM. It's along the same lines but Star Trek based.

That's a nice list you have going there. I myself have thought about checking out WH40K, though I hear it's kind of expensive. Right now my crack is Battletech and I have been trying to get in on a game of Shadowrun, but it never works out with work.
At any rate welcome to the UFP. It's good to hear you have settled in. I also recommend checking out the intro to ground STFs events. A good ESF team will take you through some good romps nice and easy, though, of course there's plenty of other events to check out and we always have something going on outside events.
Don't worry about being AFK. most of us have something else going on, and end up AFK ourselves often enough.

Unfortunately wf40k is very expensive. The RPG books seem a lot more expensive than similar games which isn't surprising considering GW's pricing of it's models (3D Printers might change that).
I've been trying to get back into shadowrun for a while (I admit, shadowrun returns got hooked again) and picked up the 5th edition. Yet to get a game in though as not felt up to taking the plunge and joining a group on Roll20.
