Great article! I felt much the same way when I re-played the mission a few weeks ago. Definitely a step above where they had it and points out where some possible improvements could be coming down the line...like the Borg. At some point, the Borg need to start feeling more threatening than they do currently and they just don't right now. But good stuff, Solace! Enjoyed the read!

Nicely done! While I do like the revamped version (of this as I do all the recent revamps) part of me does wish the old versions were still accessible somewhere as flashback missions or somesuch mechanic.

As for the logic of the point of destroying the vinculum: well it's Star Trek, just don't examine the plot holes too closely and you'll hardly notice them. Personally I rationalise it by figuring that the assimilation research was a client-side process in that ship, that the data was buffered in the vinculum and hadn't been uploaded yet. Otherwise that mission is utterly pointless, but we know that can't be possible, right?

I don't recall if this is still canon or not, but weren't we told that the bog stuck in our area in the galaxy are defective? I seem to recall somewhere (and its probably the old episodes themselves) that specifically hinted that these Borg were damaged and therefore are not able to contact the hive itself. Which is actually in the Delta Quad.

Doesn't explain why the Borg Queen herself shows up (Hive), but I get to kill her and that's all that counts.

Seriously though, it was a good mission, though I absolutely hate that boss fight. Gods, it killed me 5 times before my crew smartened up and did what they were supposed to.

The borg in the original tutorial missions were significantly weakened, but the borg you encounter toward the end game are intended to be full strength threats.
