[Three of Seven]

A question I often like to ask and one that brings many memories to many, how did you get into Star Trek?

For me, I was just a child, Voyager was new and shown on TV, normally I would just catch bits of it on my way to bed but there was also a point where I would see a whole episode. At the time, I didn't think much of it other than TV that my parents watched but that was the seed that grew into my interest, as I grew older, I got more interested in it, also seeing the odd episode of TOS and TNG as they were repeated on TV.

Ultimately, Voyager was the series that drew me in and the one which I consider to be my favourite, growing into an interest which I share with many others today.

So, what drew you in

For me it was The Next Generation, I remember waking up really early and watching it on video before everyone was awake. I also remember being taken to see Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country at the cinema when I was six, seeing one of the best Star Trek movies made at the same time as some of the best TNG episodes where airing just kicked my love for it into high gear.

I suppose at the end of the day the main thing for me then was seeing the ships, I was and still am in awe of the starships and that fostered my attention into each of series', it wasn't till later and I was slightly older that the story came into play.

For me, it was TOS, which i first encountered on the TV in the late 70s. I remember trying to make the Enterprise out of Lego when i was very, very small and conducting space battles.

For my part, I started watching TOS reruns when I was young, TNG when it came out and the movies during that period. As a teenager I started reading ST books, and I still remember being ecstatic when I got hold of the STNG Technical Manual.

I didn't really start watching anything ST till I was in jr high and by that time ST:Voy was already winding down. It wasn't until I got netflix and I started watching TNG that I really grew to like the universe and Gene' ideals. Also while TOS was campy I still think Kirk was the coolest captain out of all ST.

The earliest I remember was watching the tail end of tng. I didn't embrace my geek side until sometime in the voyager era.

I have now watched ToS, The animated, and TNG thanks to Netflix. Now working on the rest+movies and earths final conflict.

My folks never fail to remind me whenever a new 'trek comes along that they brought me to see the first Star Trek movie at a drive in theatre when it premiered, and also never fail to ask how much I remember (I was a couple months old and slept through the whole thing.)

But apparently I loved Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was shown second (This likely should have been a sign...)

The first real introduction to Trek for me was the premiere of Star Trek The Next Generation, which was on ridiculously late and my father came and woke me up so I could watch it. This was mainly cool due to it being a school night, but it was fun to hang out with dad and watch tv, something I really didn't get to do at the time due to him being in the navy and being gone 9 months out of the year.

He really wanted his sons to grow up to be engineers and scientists; He was close, my brother became an electrical engineer building components for the armed forces, and I... well, I made video games and then went the way of Peter Venkman et al. and went into business for myself.

So it's kind of a 70% success

In the end, the Trek part stuck, and I've always been intrigued by Gene's vision of the future. I think it is something that later Treks lost somewhat (Especially JJs if I'm entirely honest), but I still find it an uplifting vision that many people could use more of. Too much of our entertainment has to be 'darker', or 'grittier', when this kind of positive would do the world a lot of good.

Honestly, for me The Next Generation got me into Star Trek, I was hooked from the very first episode I ever watched "Encounter at farpoint". Its the fact that I'd have to say that Picard is one of the best Captains in Star Trek, but lets not forget Kirks "Double Fist Punch"!

I love everything about Star Trek, after TNG I fell into DS9 then into Voyager. I am collecting all the Star Trek Blu-Ray editions still waiting on DS9!

I'm quite partial to Star Trek Enterprise too! (Blasphemy! xD)

Honestly, I have really only now got into Star Trek and I'm 23. However my Aunt & Uncle love the series so it's always been in the background for me. I'm working through The Original Series right now.

My first introduction to Star Trek started around the 2nd TOS feature film. Although I enjoyed the films and watched quite a bit of TOS, it never really captured my imagination until TNG started. I remember coming home from school early so that I could catch each episode of TNG on the original air dates and followed the show until the very end. I setup klaxon lights in my room so that I could go to red alert with Picard! When VCR's finally took over the market, I remember taping each and every episode of TNG as it aired. I ended up with a complete set of all 7 seasons since I couldn't afford to buy them at the time and loaned them out to several of my friends a season at a time in the latter years of the series.

As TNG was winding down, the new crossover series DS9 was really starting to take off. Gul Dukat and Sisko fascinated me as characters, and the show gained my full interest after TNG ended. I loved the entire Dominion War story arc, and really really enjoyed Martok's character. His character solidified my interest in Klingons and helped take Worf's military back story even deeper than what was covered in TNG.

When Voyager started, I attempted to get into the series earnestly, but found a love/hate relationship with some of the characters. Janeway was no Picard! B'Elanna, Tom, and Harry annoyed me. Chakotay, Neelix, and the EMH were great, but I just couldn't stick with the series and don't remember much past Season 1. I keep telling myself that someday I'll go back and watch it from the beginning, but I haven't had any time to really get into it yet. Enterprise was a similar affair, with some characters I liked, and some I didn't. I didn't even finish Season 1 before originally abandoning that series, but I recently started watching it again on Netflix and this time I'd like to complete it. There are a few characters on Enterprise I really enjoyed, including Shran, so I'm going to give it another shot.

Even with all the other series and movies, TNG still remains my favorite series to this day.

Might surprise a few but at age 10 I could not stand Star Trek my dad would take over the TV and sit and watch it for hours and we would just go out and play. At age 14 some family things popped up and I left home was apart from the fokes for a few years in that time, I was watching a TNG Episode that I just happened to switch onto while browsing Sky. Next thing I see is the Enterprise chasing a ferengi ship and I thought that's awesome. so time goes on a I sat and watched Voyager something about that show sucked me in the fact they were so far from family and home was a right catch for me and to this day VOY is my favourite.
