FAVOURITE REFERENCE BOOK OR MANUAL
Reference books have been around since the very first Star Trek series, fans have poured over these works to delve into the inner workings of ships, cultures and overall lore of Star Trek.
MY FAVOURITE
My favourite reference book was the first one I owned before my uncle donated me all of his, I was eleven at the time, the Movie of First Contact had just come out and I saw in WH Smiths The Making of Star Trek: First Contact. I loved reading each of the sections but most specifically the concept images, prop photos and models; it was amazing to see the detailed work of John Eaves sketches in the book and I would stare at them for hours.
I had that book for years until it quite literally fell to pieces from over use, its cover fell off, pages were falling out, it was a mess. You will be pleased to know however that all my other reference books are in mint condition

The TNG Technical Manual. I was 14 at the time that I got it. I marveled at the explanations of the things I saw in the TV series. I must of read it 5 or more times, and passed it along to my Trekkie friends. I still have it, battered and dog-eared.
I also have the Star Trek Compendium and the Star Trek Encyclopedia.

I also have the Star Trek Compendium and the Star Trek Encyclopedia.
For some weird reason I have three Star Trek Encylopedias, two of the 2nd Edition and one of the 3rd. I think my dad found one of them at a car boot sale but I don't know where the other two came from

I have amassed quite a collection of Star Trek Manuals and Reference books passed down to me from my parents who are major Trekkies.
My Favourite:
I have to say that my favorite reference book is Strange and Amazing Facts About Star Trek this is one of the first Star Trek books I had passed down to me from my father and has since fallen to shreds and is in a box somewhere missing the front cover and a few loose pages due to over use

Agreed. I loved that thing, until DITL and then Memory Alpha became full databases of material. I love the Star Charts book though - that's still fun to flip through, a different experience than online images.

Star Trek Starship Creator. Unfortunately I lost the CD for it, and it probably would not run on a modern PC.
EDIT: Agreed - loved that thing! Although STO has made this a lot easier (albeit more expensive if you want to be creative).

Probably not which is a shame, although it barely ran on Windows XP if you were lucky to get passed the "OS not supported" screen. Maybe with an emulator?

I have a TNG Technical Manual I bought when I was 12. I still love flipping through those well worn pages and have a fascination with all of the msd's and technical diagrams. I also own the Star Trek Encyclopedia 2nd Ed. and wrote and a polite letter to the authors about a mistake I found with reference to general order 5 (Wrath of Kahn).
Sadly these are the only Trek books I still own. All of my TNG novels were lost when I moved out for college and simply didn't have the room to pack them with me.

That did have some really nice images and diagrams but a lot of the technical details were inaccurate, for some reason the most memorable image for me in that manual is the quantum torpedo.
