This is Tintallin here, Adam Baker in game. My wife and I just joined. She is "Alias" for the UFP Forums and Ania in STO.
We've only been playing STO for a couple of weeks and just joined UFP. Today we made the rank of Rear Admiral, Lower Half, which seems pretty amazing to us. We are doing well in game but seem like we have a ton to learn. The big thing we're trying to learn right now is how to do things with the Fleet. Frankly, we can't find anyone to hook up with in game. Right now, we are trying to find anyone who knows how to do the Crystalline Cataclysm event. It seems we might need to be level 50 but we're not sure. Any help is appreciated.
I'm sure all of this comes down to learning what we need to in order to participate and we look forward to gaming with you. We go from Hard Core to Casual as we need to because life gets busy for us but we are always looking to participate wherever we can.

We have all sorts of gamers in our community here, from casual to min/maxers. The first step in meeting up in-game is getting an invite to the fleets. If you guys haven't already joined the in-game fleet, head on over to ufplanets.com/stoinvite.php. One of our volunteers will send you an invite.
For the best experience, I'd strongly recommend getting on teamspeak. We have regular events in STO as well as some of the older trek games which are run mostly through there. Setting it up is very simple, however if you need assistance, please feel free to ask!

Greetings Alias and Tintallin! Cehus pretty much summed it up nicely! This is a fantastic community you two have joined and we are happy to have you. Don't be afraid to ask questions and to rely on your Recruit Support Officers, they are there to help and guide you. On top of that, make sure to also join our in-game UFP-UFPK channel for all text communication across all fleets and factions. Teamspeak3 is a fantastic tool to communicate and get to know your fellow community members.
Out side of that, participate in discussion on these here forums and asks your questions here too if you like, we are all here to help and enjoy Star Trek together.

I am pretty sure you do need to be level 50 to do Crystalline Catastrophe, but hopefully that shouldn't take too long.

Thank you all for welcoming me and my wife! I do have Team Speak installed and I'm on the channel but I'm stuck in the CL1 queue right now. I did get your PM Daedalus but I haven't contacted a CL5 or 6 for entrance into the higher(?) chats. Of course, they just started server maintenance so I haven't even thought about getting it connected to STO or if it works that way.
Anyways, I'm sure Alias will be logging in soon. She is way better at this and has way more time for being on than I do. She multi-tasks much better as well.
On a side note, I did make Fleet Admiral today and have done my first Crystalline Cataclysm encounter but didn't see the results as, stated above, server maintenance shut me down before I got to look. I did finish though so I know I got it at least. Whatever "it" is. The only thing I really have left is to purchase my Fleet Ship and I have 11 days before I can do that according to Fleet Rules so I'll be flying my current Sovereign until then.
Thanks for having me and I'll work on getting that message out to get upgraded to CL3 according to the instructions.

Teamspeak is independent from STO and hosted by the UFP exclusively for our members and community friends. Use of teamspeak isn't tied to STO availability, so feel free to drop by anytime. Teamspeak registration can be performed by any CL5 or CL6 member and they will all be listed on the server when you are connected. Simply send a private chat message requesting registration permissions and they'll get you sorted.
